I ordered this subscription for my brother as a surprise. He absolutely loves it. Usually he picks and chooses articles to read in other magazines, but he actually reads Cycle World from cover to cover. The articles are thorough, interesting and informative. An excellent choice for the bike enthusiast.
I like motorcycles, this is a magazine about them, that makes me happy. Also, there are some legitimately good writers and articles in here. I don't always care for the bikes they cover but they have to cover all I guess.
CW is still the best in business for real-world riders. However, as is the case with 99.9 percent of print publications, shrinking margins mean skimpier content than just a few short years ago. Even so, the editors and writers manage to pack more usable info on new products, new bikes, used bikes, engineering and maintenance than any of their competitors. Just wish there were more.
My husband is a motorcycle nut job and he will pick up cycle magazines at the magazine stands but he mainly looked for Cycle World. So I got him a subscription and he reads it from front cover to back cover. Now I don't have to look for Cycle World in the grocery store anymore for him so I'M happy too. It's come promptly in the mail with no misses and I'm just going to let it renew automatically so we'll both stay happy.
A nice magazine that covers the full range of motorcycles from cruisers to sport bikes and in-between. Nice technical articles as well.

One of the mainstream cycle mags and a good read. They are somewhat eclectic and cover alot of cycle related topics. Racing, international cycle shows, comprehensive tests including detailed specs- with detail that is often absent from manufacturer web sites, such as electric charging capacity. They not only list performance stats, but also review a fuel mileage, with high and low mileage obtained during the bike stay with the magazine, as well as the overall mileage. And then there is their secret weapon- Mr Kevin Cameron. Mr Cameron does tech evaluation and explanation in a manner that is quite incredible. He can take something esoteric, such as a recent page on casting. He made it come alive esplaoining historical milestones and advances in a way that makes history come alive. He often explains difficult concepts in a manner that the average lay person can understand. I am a gearhead, but Kevin undoubtedly forgot more than I have ever known about engines, chassis and braking and other aspects that make our rides come alive.
Yes, there is a lot of advertising, and yes, the reviews are often a bit fawning. That said this is a great cycle magazine and is entertaining and informative. Much recommended to newbie or seasoned bikers.
I like the magazine articles and it's layout. The letters from the editor are very good and are entertaining and informative. Like most of the other reviews, I received 3 magazines in 2 weeks, so it is pretty obvious that the publisher is trying to get rid of back issues. It didn't bother me too much because I have never read those issues before. Overall, pretty good mag.
Keep the cycle stories coming. Good coverage!
my love affair with Motorcycles started at about age 12, and has never slowed down. Cycle World has only served to fuel the fire for the next purchase / dream of the amazing motorcycles being built. Please don't go all digital like some magazines, I personally do not like reading online stories or articles.
Cool mag, nice art, good articles
