These are great. I have a standard size carryon and the X large, 3 long ones and the small bag fit perfectly in my carryon. Not the best of materials, but good sturdiness and stretch of the material. I fit a crazy amount of stuff in the 5 eBags I used: 3 pants, 2 dresses, 1 shorts, 6 shirts—a mix of long and short sleeves, pj top and bottom, 2 tank tops, 6 pairs of socks, 12 pairs of underwear, running tights, athletic shirt, sneakers, sandals, bathing suit and coverup.
A well-traveled friend recommended these packing cubes, but I thought: won't they just take up more space in my bag and add weight? Well the truth is they are so thin they won't decrease your suitcase's capacity, and using NINE (9) of them on my last trip only added 1.3 pounds. SO what makes them so great?
1. They organize your clothing, shoes, underwear, socks, outerwear, toiletries, you name it!
2. They simplify packing, and keep your clothes neat and prevent a lot of wrinkles/creases you often get from other packed items.
3. They make it MUCH easier to unpack and repack your suitcase, especially if your trip involves packing and unpacking more than once, like hotel to ship, ship to hotel, etc.
4. Instead of transferring all of your clothing to hangers and drawers which is time consuming, you simply move these cubes from your bag to available drawers, shelves, or wherever. Instead of twenty minutes it will take you less than two!
5. When empty (like at the end of your trip) they flatten out completely, leaving room in your suitcase for your laundry bag.
6. They come in lots of great colors.
7. The picture shows the combination of cubes I used to fill my large (28") suitcase
We're going on a two week trip to Europe and taking only backpacks so I wanted to make sure we packed as efficiently as possible. I'm writing this the morning we're leaving and we're all packed up. I've used three of these cubes in my Osprey Fairpoint 40 pack, for reference. I'm a short, size 8 woman and in the medium cube I have: a pair of jeans, 2 quick drying skirts, a pair of workout crops, a knit knee length skirt, a pair of PJ shorts, a tank top, a pair of ankle socks, and five pairs of underwear. It zipped easily with room for probably more underwear or a couple more pairs of regular socks. In contrast, my six foot tall, size XL husband has five rolled tees in his with tons of room to spare. In my smaller cube, I have four cotton short sleeve tees plus (and this is unbelievable to me) a car coat length, all the bells and whistles, hooded LL Bean rain coat (rolled and rubber banded) For comparison, in the small cube my 12 year old, size 12 son has a pair of jeans, a pair of pants, two pairs of shorts, and five pairs of underwear with some extra room. In the rectangular cube I have my toiletries that don't go in the TSA bag (organized in smaller bags as I want them), and medications. My 15 year old daughter has her make up, full size flat iron, large hairbrush, and non TSA toiletries in her rectangle. I've sample packed these things for myself and my two kids over and over and the zippers haven't fought me at all. They didn't even groan when my 12 year old son tried to put his entire four days worth of clothes into one small cube. Granted, it didn't work, but the cube really gave it a go! The one thing I'll say about this set is that the large cube is HUGE. We would never use it in a backpack. It will be useful for storing all of our cubes in it when we get back (we ordered more than just this set once we figured out what we needed), but besides that, I don't know how we'd use it. Storage, maybe? It would fit the entire main compartment of our backpacks. Oh, and about the color .... I'm not an orange fan at all. BUT ... we ordered this set and I kept the orange cubes for myself. We ordered more medium and small cubes in black and red for my (very picky) family. The good news is that while we're on the road, it won't be hard for me to know which cube belongs to me! And as I'm always up before everyone else, finding these in the dark will be easy. :) If I have any different opinion on these after using them for two weeks, I'll post it when we get back.
I bought this set for my boyfriend after buying the set of three small cubes. He wanted more variety of cube size. I like the bag quality, the fabric and zipper feel like they'll be able to withstand plenty of use.
I mainly bought the packing cube sets for their organization and space saving benefits. I found they were extremely helpful for organization purposes (as long as you don't mind storing dirty clothes next to clean clothes). Neither my boyfriend nor I are natural organizers and our bags tend to become a jumbled mess by the end of even short trips. The cubes helped us keep the jumble sorted so there was no digging for clean socks. For space saving, I had to take off one star. When my boyfriend first packed for our weeklong trip, his suitcase was full, as if he hadn't used the bags at all. I had to repack everything and managed to reduce the size to take up about 2/3s of the suitcase. I didn't try stuff them as full as I could have because I wanted him to be able to easily access the bags throughout the trip. The large cube didn't give any obvious compression benefits, and you do have to fold or roll carefully. The most satisfying and unexpected benefit came after we got home. Because the clothes were separate from the souvenirs and toiletries unpacking was a breeze, we just emptied the bags straight into the wash.
Unless you're packing for a very long trip or a large family, I would suggest buying the set of small or medium cubes first to see how you like them.
I love, love, love these cubes. I kept reading about people loving these so I decided to try them. Not only do they keep you totally organized (daytime tops in one, evening tops in another, etc) but I was traveling around Venice prior to a cruise so I put the "Venice clothes" in one cube so I didn't have to go through all my clothes to find the things needed for Venice. Each bag has a handle, so I just pulled out the bag I needed without disturbing any of the others. In addition, usually your clothes move around and get wrinkled. These cubes keep them packed perfectly so when I took them out, nothing was wrinkled. I also took a couple of the cubes and just put them on the shelves on the cruise. I just unzipped them so it was very easy to unpack. I kept all my socks in one and just took that one and put it in the drawer, etc. Love them! They are perfect if you are making more than one stop on your journey, but even without that, keeps everything so neat! (In addition, last year my bag was overweight so I had to start pulling things out of the suitcase in line... it was horrible. If it ever happens again, I can just pull out one of the bags and stuff it in my carry on.

This entire set is a little too much to fit in a single carry on when full, but still worth buying. I enjoyed having the variety of sizes and used some in a checked bag and one in my backpack. I found it improved my ability to organize my suitcase and fit more in tremendously. These aren't "compression" style bags like one of the Eagle Creek line, but you can get a bit of compression by stuffing them pretty tightly. They have high quality zippers and they're made out of a tough, but still lightweight, nylon material. All in all, it was a good purchase and I would recommend these to others.
I have to say I was very skeptical at first. These, from my perspective, looked as though they would be of the same quality as a free gym bag. You know, the one your Dad's company gave you with their logo on it, where the zipper came off after pulling on it once. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised. When I unboxed these bad boys, they felt and looked solid. I pretty much took them out of the box and started packing for a trip. I'm in the military so I was getting ready to leave for training in another state. I was able to organize my clothes, socks, etc in a decent manner. I even stuck a pair of shoes in the slim one to keep them from getting everything else all yucky. Packing was easy, everything went into my bag easily, and I was able to sort of live out of the separate pouches without having to dig everything out to find a pair of shorts. It was great.
The only downside I see to these is that they don't necessarily save room. Prior to using these I would use vacuum seal bags to cut down on space and using these prevents that, unless I put a smaller sealed vacuum bag of, say, shirts, inside one of these. That didn't work for everything though. It would be cool if these had straps to cinch everything down real tight and small.
Bottom line, if you're OCD and you don't need extra space, these are great. They keep everything clean and allow you to live much more comfortably out of a bag. If you are the kind of packer who stuffs their bags to the brim and sits on it while zipping it shut, these might not help save space.
I could have used two of these kits. For now I use some of the cubes in my son's diaper bag and it works pretty well. I'm a happy customer.
Having only recently discovered how life-changing packing cubes are for the frequent traveler, I purchased a few different brands and styles to try out and these are my favorites so far! I travel fairly regularly for work, typically a couple days to a week long trips, and sometimes have multiple stops on the same trip. I like to try and stick with just a carry on whenever possible, and these bags help with that so much! The bags themselves are sturdy and well made, with very durable zippers and seams that look like they will hold up to many years of regular use. The fabric is light and I like that there is mesh on the top without the entire lid being made of mesh. It makes them a bit less floppy and easier to pack. I also like that it shows you what is inside without putting all your belongings on display!
I like to pack shirts in one, bottoms in another, and underwear, socks and pajamas in a third. This set offers a lot of variety so you can choose which pieces will most efficiently fit in your suitcase for each particular trip. My only complaint is I wish ebags had a Velcro garment sleeve to go with this set similar to Eagle Creek's. I like to use the long slim cubes for hair tools (curling iron, flat iron, brushes, etc) and misc. things like scarves and an umbrella. When I get to my destination it is so easy to just remove all my cubes, lay them in drawers on the hotel room desk, then I can take what I need without having to dig through piles on my suitcase. I find that rolling my shirts and soft things works best, and I fold jeans and pants and lay them in a cube.
Overall, very happy with this purchase, and would recommend these bags above other similar ones!
How did I live without these cubes??? I travel fairly frequently (a few days every 2-3 weeks plus longer trips of 1-4 weeks at least four times a year) and have relied solely on my coordinating, organizing, and folding/rolling skills for years. I mainly travel via a specific airline for which I have checked luggage privileges, so I tend not to be as pressed for space as others. However, two summers ago, I was going to be traveling for a stretch to two different states and switching airlines on top of that. I had a range of clothing needs and also needed to be able to take various accessories and supplies. I didn't want to incur a checked bag fee and knew I needed to be strategic in packing one carry-on wheeled piece plus my backpack (with a small purse in it) that would see me through my travels. I did a bunch of research and decided I'd try out both this eBags set in raspberry as well as the sky blue set of medium-sized Amazon Basics cubes. I was pleased with both, but the eBags became a huge favorite for me (the key factors over the Amazon cubes: eBags zippers feel sturdier and have better, more substantial pulls; I like that the mesh parts of the eBags flank either side of the top flap whereas the Amazon cube zippered top flab is mainly mesh except for a slice of material down one side; the mesh of the eBags cubes is more tightly woven than that of the Amazon cubes. I need to note that both brands are holding up just fine, so these factors may be far less important to you, in which case price may be a bigger factor.)
Back to the trip for which I originally bought this set! I was able to fit a TON of clothing into these cubes by rolling items and then fitting them into the cubes. I was even able to go shopping while traveling and add more items (got a second tier into some cubes). I am 5'3" and wear a size 6 (so size small to medium); for me, the medium size cube is ideal for getting my clothes into a compact space. The large one is far too large for my clothing and seems over-sized in carry-on luggage. (In fact, I use it more to tote or store my travel pillow and blanket together.) To me, the small cube is best for only a few pieces of clothing, accessories, or underwear. The slim also works well for underwear/socks. I've used this size to organize other things, like snacks or electronic cords/cables, too. (Side note: I tend to use the slim cube for the extra clothes I always pack in a carry-on when I check my luggage and worry about my luggage--and, thus, all my other clothes--getting lost in transit.) But the medium size is, by far, the most practical to me, especially since I don't mind sticking my underwear in with other clothing.
The trick to making these cubes work is to roll items and line (and, if needed, stack) the rolled pieces together tightly. The sides are soft and will flop down as you fill the cube, but that is not bad at all. That the cubes have softer sides allows you to stuff these cubes and gets more into a compact space. I love that you don't need to unpack/repack items in the cubes. When I share a hotel room and dresser space is limited, I simply need a shelf or other flat surface to lay my cubes upon and don't need to struggle with going into a piece of luggage that's stuck in the corner of a room on the floor. When I unpack into a dresser drawer, I simply unzip the top flap, fold it back, and all my items are easy to access within the cubes.
If you wind up loving your packing cubes, then perhaps--like me--you will expand your collection. I have added additional medium-sized cubes to this raspberry set and also now have three different colors just for myself so I can color-code if I like (such as using different colors for different stops on a given trip or for different types of clothes). I also have different colors for my kids (hubby is still not into these cubes--hahaha!) and they agree that having cubes makes it easier to keep their items organized and find items quickly. Cubes definitely make packing and unpacking more fun, organized, and easy for me and my family!
I bought these cubes to organize my honeymoon trip to Europe as we wanted to take a carry-on suitcase instead of having to check a bag, and we were traveling between countries and wanted the ease of using the public transportation with our luggage.
As many other reviewers stated, the large is quite large. It takes up the entire size of a carry-on size (19-21"), but only half the height. If you have a hard shell carry-on, it will take up an entire side; if you have a soft-side, it will take up one layer of the packing. The second time I traveled, to my parent's house, I put the large at the bottom of my packing with nothing in it, so I could put all my dirty laundry in it.
The medium cube is a good size, I can fit 4 outfits in it (4 shirts and 2 bottoms). This cube takes up half the size of the large. The small is not too small as I can fit 2 outfits in it. I was able to get a knee-length rain jacket and a full outfit into this cube. The small cube takes up about half of the medium one.
The long "prisms" are great for tank tops, any smaller summer clothing, pj's, underwear, socks, etc. I used one to organize all my dog's sweaters, it worked beautifully.
I can fit the medium, the small, two prisms, and toiletries into my carry-on suitcase. I also had some room for another pair of shoes. I would guess that you could get another small or medium cube into the suitcase if you swap shoes or some toiletries. I'll probably buy more of the medium and small cubes for future travel to keep everything organized.
