We're using a pair of these lines as clotheslines, attached to pre-existing steel clothesline poles set in concrete. So far they're working well but there are a couple of caveats. The instruction sheet, as minimal as it is, shows the U-clamp being attached to the inside of the loop, inside the aluminum ferrule. This is wrong - the clamp should be on the outside of the ferrule, as shown in the advertising pictures for the product. Otherwise the ferrule will just slide down the cable. It would have been nice to have two U-clamps for each end, for safety, but I guess this is just a clothesline. The expansion-bolt J-hooks are great if you need them but many folks don't so they could be eliminated and reduce the price. The price for all of these pieces of hardware comes close to the price they're offering, so it's a pretty good deal especially since you don't have to buy more pieces than you need. Cutting the cable is easy with a hacksaw and a 32TPI (fine tooth) blade. Around here, anything that stays outside all winter pretty much needs to be stainless so I'm hoping this will hold up. I will also note that despite that word "retractable" in the title, it's not retractable in the sense most people think of a clothesline. There's a turnbuckle meant for tightening but it's meant to be permanent, not put up and down repeatedly.
Very sturdy and good for heavy objects. We use it it the garage to hold wet beach towels and for drying boat tubing gear. Wall anchors included are for concrete/block walls so if you have studs like I do, buy wood hooks as shown in my photo. There is enough steel cable to cross a one car garage twice. Cable did not stretch or rust in our shore environment. Highly recommended!
Great clothesline. Very strong and stays tight! Had a minor problem with my package and the seller fixed it immediately. Very nice folks.
The line is easy to assemble, just takes a little strength and a couple tools (pliers, screwdriver). I changed my j-bolts out for the ones for wood. Note- the instructions weren't correct- you need to assemble them how they are on the front page of the manual, not the way they are pictured inside. (I think they had the tube in the wrong place on the inside,don't have it in front of me at the moment)

I got this one, because my fancy retractable clothsline broke. This one is fantastic. I thought it looked a little complicated, but my Dad had no trouble with it. My Mom loved it so much, I got her one. Dad put hers up in about 5 minutes. We both love our new lines. No sagging, no breaking, no marks on cloths. Everyone should have one and use the Sun to dry cloths instead of electricity.
This was far nicer than I expected for the price. Very heavy duty for laundry and I suspect some of the savings was in making me put together everything. A little patience and a third hand will make sure it all goes together. After that you have a nice stainless line running. I bought the stainless clothes pins at the same time and every looks great.
Be sure, before you buy, that you have a place to actually screw into. It uses an expansion bolt at each end, so it must go into a stud (4x4 even better). It can go into a tree, but I suspect that a living tree may be less secure.

I was very happily surprised at the quality of this setup. All the parts are really durable and strong. I bought this to run a guy wire for supporting a bunch of plants, and it serves that function well. Looking at this, I'd say it will last for years outdoors, so I'd recommend it without reservation in terms of quality.
