Amprobe ST-101B Socket Tester

Amprobe ST-101B Socket Tester

Works just fine. Used this while wiring several new circuits in the greenhouse as well as testing new sockets
installed in the house. Simple, straight forward indication of a connection problem ... before the misconnection
becomes a major problem.

I like this tester, but I wonder about it because I live in a mobile home/trailer, & they're not known for being built(?) to code.
Anyway, I'm keeping it to test other outlets, here's hoping I can trust the tester's results.
I suggest this or a similar tester for testing home grounding, either for electrical or health grounding purposes.

This bad boy helped me find out really quickly that i had one outlet that was reversed neutral/hot and one that was not working is open hot.

We've tried 3 outlet testers. They all work fine as far as lighting up, but the key on one tester was hard to read. That was the Sperry Instruments GFI6302 GFCI Outlet Tester. The key on this tester as well as the one on the tester that came with Earthing's Universal Mat Kit are both easy to read.

For what it is, this works great. However, I had thought it had it's own battery to detect and inform you if there was no power at all. In the end though it did the job as I was able to determine the issue was the cirtcuit breaker.

I got this to test the sockets in my motorhome! The motorhome was fine, but I found seven sockets mis-wired in my house. Noce to have in my new electric toolkit . . maybe now I won't be blowing things up as much!

Cheap and works great. I use it to check the wiring in rehearsal studios before plugging in my old amps. Keeps the amps safe, and me safe when I touch the mic.

Had a friend who swore their house had grounded plugs as they kept killing UPS' and computer . They told me it was not their plug. This proofed it they have plug not grounded and wired backeards. I won ten bucks in the bet to pay for it.

not bad.

Does everything you need for around the home use. Would not recommend for electricians but great for the recreational user. We bought a house and used this to test all of the outlets. When the tester told us something was wrong it truly was and was really easy to fix without pulling outlets out of the wall just to check.
