I'm a "Mark" and so I have a collection of lion things. The winged-lion is the symbol of the Evangelist St. Mark. I was looking for some strong bookends as the various ones I had tried to hold upright a collection of large books on a coffee table kept collapsing with the books (and other items) becoming strewn all over the floor. How excellent that the strongest ones I've found, about 3lbs a piece, are stylish lions. One review I read said these "look cheap." I can't but disagree, I think they look more expensive than they actually are. I also read a couple of horror stories about these bookends arriving chipped and cheap Styrofoam going all over the place when trying to take them from the box. I don't deny this has happened, and I don't know if the shipping procedures for these have changed, but the ones I received were packaged securely, the lions facing away from each other, snug in the box (seemed like they could hardly move) and I had no problems with Styrofoam breakage creating a vacuuming nightmare (I didn't need to vacuum).
"The truth is like a lion. You don't have to defend it, let it lose, and it will defend itself." - St. Augustine
I was worried these might look a little cheesy, but in fact, they look really great and the color is fantastic. The weights are good as well, to keep up a fair # of books.
Thanks
I ordered these to hold up books that my now-grown children wrote during grade school and middle school - hard covered, 8x10 and 5x7 books which were created during library class, and which I've kept for all these years. I have about 2 to 3 dozen of them (they cover about 15" on my table), and they've been simply stacked on a table. These bookends are holding them up securely, and making them look much more appropriate in my living room. The lions are very heavy, "polystone" cast resin with a glossy bronze finish; upon first glance, they do look like metal. The detail is nice. Should I need more bookends, I will buy these again.
These book ends are detailed. I love the color and the stance of the lions. They are carved to be the king of the jungle, so to speak. But, I called them the Lion of Judah. Judah means praise to God Almighty. Thank You for selling these lion book ends.
Absolutely gorgeous with great detailing. There was a slight chip on the base column but not at all visible when placed against a book.

At the price, these well-sculpted pieces are very attractive in a strong burnished burgundy bronze, and reflect a quality exceeding their cost. Good weight, good for gift-giving.
Very nice and heavy for the price. I had very thick books between my previous bookends, and the bookends were not heavy enough to hold them. I was skeptical at first given the price, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I really liked the bookends, however, they were nicked in places. Both pedestals had nicks on them. Since I have them in a place where you can't easily see the nicks, I just decided to keep them and not send them back. I didn't want to go through the expense of paying the shipping costs to send them back. A bit disappointing since in my book, they weren't cheap. I expected them to be in perfect condition.
It looks so freakin nice. You can't beat this price.
This bookends are pretty heavy and able to hold my 17 books with no problem. I am very satisfied.
5 stars
Look great, solid weight.
