These grommets work with the fermentation airlocks - same as those that come with the full 'kit' cap with airlock (like perfect pickler). Grommets fit 1/2 " hole made in mason jar lid (other reviews suggest melting the hole in plastic lids using a heated drill bit), these hold the fermentation airlock with 3/8" stem nicely (three packs of airlocks are cheap). You can buy plastic wide-mouth caps, silicone inserts (to make them airtight), 3 ferment airlocks, and this batch of grommets for less than one 'kit' with one lid. Just have to make the holes in the lids.
These were just what I needed to use in fermenting vrggies. Easy to install and remove for cleaning which I do after every use. The silicone stays supple instead of hardening like rubber will.

They did just what they are supposed to do. Seal a hole and accept a vapor lock. I am not going to pickle them, so they don't have to be outer space sterile or even food safe. I would buy them again. Thanks!
