We bought 3 lbs of this for our son who is on the more severe end of the autism spectrum. We thought that it would be great for sensory play but never expected what we got. First of all this stuff is very cool, I've caught myself playing with it multiple times. But my son... who usually bounces from one activity to another, never spending more than a few minutes on anything LOVES it!!! He has been playing with it all day long. He will run off for a minute or two but always comes back to it. It's been in my dining table all day because I don't dare put it up. It's amazing! I love this product.
I LOVE IT. I'm quite an anxious and stressed person so playing with this, considering my age lol, helps a lot. It's soothing and relaxing to watch fall and pile. It feels great in my hands, soft and smooth. The glitter in it make it even better to watch. I just recommend not to play with it on a white surface it doesn't stain but it does leave dye marks which come off easy with a wet paper towel or some kind of wipes. All in all, I'm happy to have it!
Okay, so I'm gonna start by saying that I'm a pretty frugal mom. But I do have a 3 year old that loves to bring sand home and play with it making a huge mess on my carpet. With that being said... I needed to come up with a solution. Kinetic sand was it! Actually love the way it feels in my hands, and I'm definitely a texture person. Lol. We bought a bag of sand toys as well on the site in the kinetic sand is easily into the mold and holds its shape easily. My son plays with this in a medium sized container that I just feel when he is done. I do suggest buying more than one bag though because one that is simply not enough to be able to build with.
Bought this for myself as something to help with fidgeting and anxiety. This is a 1lb bag and it's the perfect amount for playing with. If you're buying it for kids you'll want more product as you're getting a lot here. It felt a little dry straight out of the package but kneading it brought it back perfectly. My photos are true to color and amount of shimmer in it. The sand sticks to your hands a little bit it's not bad at all, easily washed off, the shimmer will stick to you even after you've washed up but again, not too bad. I wanted the blue but the amount of reviews about the dye staining your skin made me go for this one, staining hasn't been an issue at all. I placed it in a quart size ziplock and squeezed it down, you can see the amount reference to my Xbox one controller. I store it in an airtight jar and it hasn't dried out or changed consistency.
My shimmery kinetic sand looks really pretty sitting on my windowsill next to my purple-leafed plant. I put it in a little airtight container so that it never dries out. There aren't any kids in my life at the moment, but I bought it after trying out a similar product in a store. I love the texture...It's soft yet sandy, and just fun to fidget with when I'm watching television.
Before I bought this sand, I was worried about whether the glitter would get everywhere, but it doesn't. It stays attached to the rest of the sand. I haven't had any trouble with it staining things, either, although I try to be careful about not dropping it on the furniture.. The purple sometimes gives my fingers a light tint, but it washes right off, so it's no big deal. I'd recommend it to people of all ages.

We purchased this for my brother, he uses it as a coping mechanism for when he gets very upset. Its great for him to play with the sand as he tries to calm himself. Would recommend anyone with a child with emotional problems who need ways to calm down.
I bought this as a gift for a family member of mine. This stuff used to be soooo trendy on Youtube by cutting it with knifes and smashing it with other various objects, and I thought it was stupid! Soon after it was delivered by the USPS gods, however, I realized the beauty of sand with glitter. Let me provide a pros and cons list to illustrate my thoughts on this magical sand.
PROS
- Easy to compact into any container
- Feels pleasant to play with due to the sensations (i.e. crunching sound when cutting it)
- Leaves little to no residue on objects or on skin
CONS
- Was expecting the purple sand to taste like grapes; I was surprised and saddened when I realized it was not
- Could be a bit messy if you do not contain sand in a controlled environment (i.e. plate)
If you like sand of various different colors and glitter, this sand product could be an excellent choice for sand and glitter lovers!
Great sand! Keeps my toddler busy for HOURS and I actually enjoy playing with it! The glitter isn't as vibrant as the package but that's OK. I'm just happy the glitter doesn't come off and end up everywhere. I was a bit hesitant for that reason. As long as you're on a hard surface it's easy to clean up, you can ball up some and use it to pick up anything that has fallen off. It does make a mess on carpet though.
Love this stuff, I keep it in a bowl in my living room and take it out and play wth it whenever I get bored. Even after months of sitting in the bowl it is just as good as the first day. I had to add just a little water when it dried up a little, but not much. Great for anxiety.
The sand is great and the kinetic features work as intended. I gave it four stars because of the price. It is very expensive in comparison to the blue sand without the glitters. After several play, the glitters will slowly start to go away. The plain blue kinetic sand should suffice.
