I was unsure about the price tag of this switch, as it doesn't have any management or anything onboard, but I'm very happy with it, and it reaches full 10Gb. The fan on this thing is also surprisingly quiet. The whole unit is very well built and the PWM fan can even be replaced if for some reason you decide that the current one is too loud. Included are some tech nudes for the more geeky readers.
Works as expected. I did have some crazy anomalies in the beginning. While trying to configure a QNAP NAS connected on the 10G port it kept going stupid. I could install the NAS software, get to the login page, but then it'd just get stuck there and crash out the page with a message about the traffic being blocked. I wasted nearly a full day trying to figure out the problem and finally found that it miraculously went away when I switched the NAS to use one of the 1Gbps ports instead of the 10Gbps. After the NAS was fully configured I switched it back to the 10Gbps port and the problem seems to have gone away.
I still don't know if it was the switch or the NAS causing the issue to this day, but I wasn't impressed with their tech support when I contacted them in any event. That's why I took a star off.
This is for the MS510TXPP model, I have been a network engineer for over 20 years. I was not sure this little switch could deliver everything it claimed to do.. my main priority was to QoS traffic for my gaming rig. I was able to do this and more. I tested QoS policies by marking a DSCP value and doing a packet capture on my Pfsense router and my dns cache server and I could confirm that the policies were tagging traffic correctly. once that was validated I then moved my critical (gaming) traffic to a strict priority queue! I was able to test iperf3 and got full line rate speeds with QoS applied! amazing, just amazing! I also used private vlan configuration to segment off my guest traffic and IOT devices which are dumped into a community vlan through the AP. one thing I was disappointed in and hopefully netgear is reading this.. there is no DHCP relay capability today 12/22/2017 on the vlans... this makes it hard to deploy "routed" vlans which out having to add an additional DHCP server layer2 adjacent to any routed vlan... you can of course use static IPs... but I dont want to manage static IPs.. maybe this will be available in future software releases... overall, this is an amazing switch and I am very happy with the features it provides.
After doing way too much research into SFP+ and 10gbase-T network protocols, trying to make all the 10g devices on my network communicate, I found this amazing go-between. The MS510TXPP features both interfaces, so you can bridge both technologies in one device. When it arrived, I plugged in my wires, and everything worked instantly. Extremely pleased.
So far paired with Intel 540-T1 server adapter with Windows Server 2016 and ASUS XG-C100C workstation on Windows 10. File transfer speed 989MB/s between machines with SSD. This is without any modifications like jumbo frames and receiver side scaling (RSS). Worked straight out of the box - outstanding!

Description
The 2nd generation NETGEAR Pro safe xs708ev2 is a powerful web managed (plus) switch that includes 8 ports of 10-Gigabit connectivity (8 copper with 1 shared Combo copper/SFP+ fiber port) for business class networks. NETGEAR 10-Gigabit web managed (plus) switches are purposely designed as a cost-effective way to provide 10G connections to 10G-capable servers and NAS (network attached storage) systems. They can be used at the “center of a small business network” or as an aggregation / access switch in a larger organization including workgroup access. The xs708ev2 provides configurable L2 network features allowing SMB customers to deploy virtualization, cloud-based services and applications like VoIP, video streaming and IP surveillance, which require higher reliability, speed, and performance. It delivers unprecedented non-blocking 10-Gigabit bandwidth at an affordable cost, and is plug-and-play out of the box, or can be easily configured for advanced features via the web browser-based management GUI. The xs708ev2 is ideal for smaller workgroups that need high-bandwidth for sharing, collaborating, editing, and publishing high-density content like video or animation. The xs708ev2 includes lifetime Warranty, next business day Replacement, and technical Chat online support.
Fantastic. Dropped in to my network without any issues (mix of Cisco, Dell and Netgear switches). Getting near wire speeds using iperf. Have had no luck with the SFP+ ports, have tried numerous 10Gtek transceiver's with no success. Attempting to connect a XS505M to this switch via the SFP+ ports and can't get 10G speeds (always end up with 1G links). Great switch despite my difficulties with the SFP+ ports.
I bought this switch for networking a new iMac Pro with two other Macs using Sanlink products. We are running VFX software from Autodesk and the speed increase is very noticeable. We can now play back uncompressed 4k Video across systems using 10g Ethernet instead of copying everything local.
Unfortunately our unit is not as quiet as other reviewers have found. There's a very noisy fan that makes me want to get longer cables and install this in another room. It's way noisier than our Promise disk arrays with 6 spinning hard drives. I would appreciate any suggestions for a replacement fan.
FYI - This device does NOT support 100Mb connections, didn't even occur to me to check. Firmware updates are a bit backwards, but other then that its as expected so far.
It's half the price of a switch with all 10GB ports. It is managed, so I immediately placed a lag group with qty2 1GB ports to my existing 1GB switch. Easy enough to setup and does seem to support many l2 switch options. Using two higher priced ports seemed like a waste, so this switch is a ideal price for augmenting an existing network with a limited number of higher speed devices.
I use the switch for 3 NAS devices, 2 lans each all 10g. 2 10g from desktop and 2 from router. I’m getting at least 250 to 400mbs transfer rate all the time. But when I call for questions they all act like their from Some place thats never seen a PC. VERY DUMB and RUDE!!!! NETGEAR IS WORST Customer Service.....
