SO FAR SO GOOD: I've only used these once so far on my 11-month-old, but so far we like them. I had been looking for some time for a baby / toddler mitten that would be easy to put on, had a velcro strap to tighten, was not available in just two color-sexism-reinforcing colors ("blue" for boys or "pink" for girls -- I DEPLORE that kind of gender-stereotyping product marketing) -and was aesthetically pleasing.
UNIQUE PRINT: So I was very excited when I saw this delightful gecko batik print, which is playful but not gaudy or garishly cartoony (another thing I dislike with some children's product designs), and it appealed to our nature-inspired aesthetic style for our son. At 11 months old, these are definitely big on him -- but that's a good thing, as they're plenty roomy for his hands right now (when he's still "finger walking" with us for support), but they might still fit him next winter season too, when he will want a thumb pocket (rather than thumbless mitten, which I imagine would be frustrating).
WARM: I was also very pleased to note how warm these mittens kept my son's hands after our first experiment out in the cold. We were outside for at least 45 minutes in a cool 34 degrees or so (with a breeze), and when I check his hands, they were toasty warm. Since I don't expect that we'll spend long stretches of time outside if or when temperatures plunge to single digits or below zero, I feel like these will be just what we need to get us through an Iowa winter.
SOME DESIGN TWEAKS WOULD MAKE EVEN EASIER TO PUT ON: My only quibble with these mittens is that the base isn't quite as wide as I was hoping, and there's not really much stretch to the material. In my ideal mitten, they'd either be wide enough to easily stretch over baby's jacket sleeve -- or else would have a vertical zipper or vertical velcro strip to make the mitten much easier to get on.
Despite this, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get these mittens on my son's hands -- and he didn't protest either! Because they're big on him right now, it was very easy to slip his hands in and quickly cinch up the velcro strap. The base is also roomy enough that his heavy sweatshirt jacket sort of naturally and easily tucked into the base. We'll have to see if it remains this easy to get the mittens one once his hands are a little bigger, but for now, I'm pleased.
VELCRO STRAP: A quick word on the velcro strap: My initial impression from the photos on Amazon was that the strap was a single strap that wrapped around the wrist, but that is not the case. There are two pieces to the strap -- one piece with the fuzzy side of the velcro, and the other with the gripper side.
I think a single strap might be easier to deal with and provide a better custom fit -- and might be easier for me or little guy's dad to cinch up the mitten one-handed. Because the mittens are still big on my son's hands, we really had to cinch the strap tight, and once when we were walking with him outside, the mitten got pulled off (by me) accidentally. It was easily put back on -- and the two-strap design is not at all a deal-breaker or major complaint.
Just a suggestion to the product designers for future iterations!
If we did need to put the little guy into his fleece bunting, the long strap that connects the two mittens is definitely ample enough to fit inside the sleeves of his bunting with comfortable room left over for putting the mittens.
Overall, a very nice design that keeps little hands warm, with a refreshingly unique print!
I have these in my 2 year olds jacket all the time. He wears them for about 3 hours a day at school on cold wet Seattle days. He hasn't lost them which is a real achievement and they seem to dry out quickly. He's a messy little man but washing once a week does the job. I'm not sure why but they never really look that dirty. My only complaint is that he really wanted dinosaur mittens but when these arrived there was no discernible dinosaurs as you can see in the pics so he wasn't happy. They are great quality though, i would give 4.5* if I could. I'm happy that I will get through the winter of heavy use with these.
They're cute, and the mittens themselves are fairly good quality, but the string came off the first time my son wore them. I didn't get too upset because toddlers are rough on everything, and once I sewed the string back on, they are fine again. I do wish there had been more variety of color options. They don't really match my son's jacket, but I chose them anyway for the string function.
The only thing that makes these mittens particularly challenging (and it is no fault of the product itself) is that while they are useful in making sure a mitten doesn't get lost, it is difficult to get the kids in and out of a car seat without the string getting tangled with the car seat straps. If you know that you are going to encounter this obstacle, it's fine, but if you're in a rush on the way to school in the morning, you may want to consider a different option.
They are perfect! Somehow it was incredibly hard to find mittens like these. They are thick enough to be warm but not so thick that you cant bend your fingers. They actually have a real thumb slot. They are made of quality material and seem very durable. I love the velcro strap to keep them tight and the string so my son doesn't loose them. Also the fit is perfect for my 18 month old son. GREAT PRODUCT!
We love these gloves for are toddler, they were put to the test Saturday after a long day playing in the snow. They kept his fingers warm and were easy for him to pick up things outside. We also love the fact that they can't be lost after they are taken off due to the string keeping them together!!! He also must love them because he keeps them on until inside, or maybe the Velcro straps help keep them on?

These mittens arrived right on time and in good condition. They are very warm and comfy feeling. My son has a size 3t jacket and they fit it perfectly with a few inches to spare, but in not sure how well the string will hold up. The Velcro strap is perfect for keeping them on little hands. I do feel like they run a little big but that will just help make them comfy.
Saw these after I had been shopping for a snowsuit for my grandson. While the weather has not been cold enough yet to use them, they are colorful and cute and with the fleece lining inside should keep his little hands warm.
I got these mittens for my grandson. They will be used for car travel and general use, I have another pair that are water proof for snowballs.
Fits as expected. Ordered 2 pairs for a 3 year old and a 2 year old. Slightly large for both children but not too big to use. The adjustable Velcro straps for wrists help to make them a bit more secure. Nice soft fleece lining. Outer fabric will not be water resistant on cold and wet days. Overall a great product for the price.
These are super cute, I love them. I wish they kept my sons hands a little warmer and dryer though. Definitely not for cold temps. But cute none the less.
