Case Logic DCB-309 SLR Camera Backpack -Black

Have been using this for a month. I completely love it! I was using a general use backpack for camera gear before this. This is amazing, even more so than I thought it would be from looking at the photos. The velcro material is all over the inside so you can move and make different compartments. Holds my Canon 5D Mark II with the attached 70-200L with room to spare. I also hold a 50mm, flash, and some other equipment, batteries and such. Very pleased.

Update:

The one thing that is a little annoying is that the zipper strings constantly fall off and I have to put them back on. They are little pieces of nylon rope instead of a regular metal zipper grasp. The inside features are still amazing but when you are working and a zipper pull comes off it is embarrassing as well as time consuming to fix. I had this at a 5 star rating before but I have to downgrade to a 4 because of the zippers pulls

I got this bag to take along with me on a trip to Hawaii. I had no issues with it over the ~2 week trip. In it, I carried a Canon T3i with battery grip, 18-55 and 55-250 kit lenses and various filters, two GoPros (one suction cup mount), one 14" laptop, one iPad, one iPod, and several wall and 12v chargers for everything, along with a bunch of small miscellaneous things. The bag was pretty heavy when loaded, but I had no issues with the stitching on the straps or anything. I attached a small tripod to the outside of the bag, and that worked well. The interior compartments were great. It really held my camera nicely and allowed me to keep my other equipment organized.

If I had to improve the bag, I would get better shoulder straps, as the installed straps are not very padded. I would include a waist strap (my wife commented that the chest strap did not work for her although it did work for me). I would make the smallest compartment's zipper change orientation, so that when fully pulled down it would be closed, to prevent accidental opening. I know that there are drawbacks to having the zipper in this position though (things would fall out easily if you opened it just a little to grab something). Also, the waterproof cover seemed to fit very tightly and was a little difficult to get installed on a fully loaded bag. I would suggest attaching one end of the cover permanently to either the top or bottom of the bag, so that it's easier and quicker to unzip and pull over the bag.

I absolutely love this bag. I purchased it for my study abroad in China. I need to be able to take a laptop, camera, accessories, and a few other things and not have to lug around a ton of stuff. This bag is absolutely perfect. I fit a 15.4" MacBook Pro, iPad, Canon T1i DSLR with 2 lenses, chargers for all the electronics, a few magazines, extra batteries, and still had room. It fit perfectly under the seat in front of me on the plane so it worked as my second carry on bag. There is a ton of padding to keep your equipment safe during travel, and a weather cover if you get caught in a storm. I've since sold my camera but plan on using this as a paintball bag because the dividers are easily adjustable in the middle and the back of the bag will be perfect for a marker. Absolutely buy this if you travel and have a big camera and other electronics you want to keep safe.

Excellent pack for multiple bodies and lenses. I can fit 2 large DSLRs (no grips) and 3-4 lenses, obviously depending on size and some lens hoods and other stuff like charger, extra batteries, memory cards, etc. Good quality construction, zippers are heavy duty, and the stitching hasn't let me down yet and I don't expect it to. I'm pretty easy on my gear so I believe this pack will last a long time. This is perfect if you're on the go or do location shooting. For the price, you can't beat it. Can you get a more expensive, larger pack with more pockets and cushion and whatever else built in? Sure, but for a basic, quality pack that will protect, transport your gear easily and give you the options of organizing it all the way you like, this is a great choice.

Update: I have used this pack for a year and a half am beginning to find some seams tearing. I use it regularly for location shoots and always carry two DSLRs, 2 medium lenses, 1 small lens and various small accessories. I am really gentle with equipment, but this bag is showing its weaknesses. I will continue to use it less as I don't want the tear to completely rip open and spill my gear out. I will be in search of a higher quality bag. If you need a pack that won't get constant use or not carry too much gear, this could work out. This is a perfect example of you get what you pay for.

It seems pretty sturdy and there is plenty of room for all my camera gear (Canon T3i and 6D bodies, 24-105 f4 L kit lens, EF-S kit lens and 70-200, and EF 50 F1.4) and accessories like battery chargers with spare batteries, lens filters, spare memory cards, 1 flash. My android tablet fits in the front compartment as well.

There is a strap on the outside to wrap around a tripod, though it it free to swing around a bit since it is only attached at one place. I don't know that I would leave the tripod attached there if I was gonna walk any significant distance.

The laptop compartment was a disappointment. I have a 15" PC laptop that is about the same size as a macbook and it doesn't really fit. You can force the zipper to close but it stretches out and doesn't feel protected at all. Especially when loaded with camera gear. I wouldn't put a laptop bigger than 13" or so in there. I'm not sure if there is anything in a similar price range with a bigger laptop space.

It feels pretty sturdy but not like the packs you'd use for hiking. The padding is not terribly thick (about 1/4"), enough to protect against incidental bumps, but I don't think it would effectively protect against drops of more than a few inches.

It is not a bad for the price ($57 as of this writing) but I am not sure its what I need. Especially since my laptop doesn't fit.

Description

A sleek photo backpack that combines practicality, comfort and style with customizable organization for a DSLR camera and drone and accessories.

I don't think The bag is as large as it appears in the photos. I'm not sure how you would carry two camera bodies, would take up a whole lot of room in this thing. And wouldn't leave much space for lens or flash. But maybe my sony is larger than other dslrs .. The threads holding the Velcro separators started coming loose on two panels after just a few attempts to set the bag up for my stuff, when you move the panels around, grab them at the Velcro rather than just pulling on the middle of the panel.. The rest of the bag seems to be durable. Plenty of pockets to hold your stuff. Zippers aren't as cheap as I thought they would be and all the straps appear to be very solid, I don't think any of them are going to break. I used the left over separator panels to help add padding around my camera, just laid them flat up against the wall of the backpack and stuck them there. I've got my camera, 5 lenses, flash, all in the main compartment and have room for possibly two more lenses.. Maybe a camera body would fit in that space, but not another sony a58. Not using the bag for a laptop at the moment, I've got drawing pads and a notepad in there for sketching. Once everything is zipped up the pack feels pretty secure and I don't think a drop on the floor would result in any damages to anything inside. Given the wear stitching inside, it still seems like a decent pack, I'm not going to send it back because of a couple bad stitches I can fix myself in a few minutes.

Pretty good bag. I just took it on a trip and fully loaded it fits under standard airplane seats. I am a beginner DSLR user so I only have my camera with a lens and one extra lens. There is a lot of room for expansion in the future as I acquire more stuff. But I have a lot of go-pro stuff and it fit in there too. One thing that was important to me was room for my Surface Pro 3. The computer/tablet slot in this bag is plenty big for the surface. I also traveled with my kindle which I just put on the top of the camera. The outside pocket is great for putting everything in for going through security (wallet, phone, etc).

The only negative I have is with the water bottle holder - it only fits smaller OD bottles and if there is something big on the inside next to the water bottle, the bottle gets squished

Inevitably, I outgrew the little camera bag that I bought along with my Canon T2i. I'm a very amateur hobby photog and admitedly my needs are not so high. I just wanted to be able to carry my DSLR and lenses plus accessories. In shopping for a new bag, I realized that the primary reason for wanting a DSLR backpack was for vacation travel. And when I imagine myself taking vacations with my DSLR I knew I wouldn't want to put it in my checked luggage. It would have to travel in my carry-on. Additionally, I tend to travel with my laptop. So then I imagined myself going through airport security with a camera bag and a laptop bag and possibly my purse or other small item....yeah not happening. This bag solves that problem by consolidating it all into one! While it's true that sharing the overall space with a camera means that you will have to compromise on the overall amount of stuff you carry for your laptop, I think it's a pretty even trade. I pack my laptop in its pocket with the charger in the front accessory pocket. The rest of my peripherals (mouse, usb hub, headphones/mic, etc) go into my checked luggage. (More would probably fit but I'd rather not stress out the bag.) Similarly, I put my camera body, lenses and filter in the camera part of the bag but then I leave one little corner of the bag for one little ziplocked sized pouch with my "purse essentials". Then I put the extra lens hoods and my lens cleaning stuff in my checked luggage. (Is that bottle of cleaning fluid 3oz or less? Not gonna bother!) Camera charger and memory cards go into the accessory pocket, while my wallet, passport and cell fit nicely in the pocket in the back. Then, when you get to the security checkpoint it's a breeze to pop your laptop out for screening and then slide it back in. Did I mention that this all fits under the seat on the plane so that you don't have worry about what that moron in Seat 12B might do to it when he opens the overhead compartment? My only complaint is the tripod strap. I have a sturdier, non-travel size tripod and it doesn't fit at all! Even if I did have a more compact one, I'm not sure I would put it there as I think it might throw off the balance a bit. A monopod would fit nicely but a tripod is just not very do-able on the side. I wish it had the strap on the bottom but thats probably just personal preference. Still, for the price, I think this bag does great job and I would recommend it to others. Also, not only is it great for transporting your camera/laptop through the airport, but the straps are comfy enough for long good hikes, which is the whole reason your camera made the plane trip anyways!

I've owned this camera bag for almost 4 years and it's still holding strong. Still looks and feels just as good as the day i got it. I consider myself a semi-pro, shooting various weddings and other gigs part-time. This bag has served me well and I haven't found a need to upgrade. It does look a bit bland/dated but that can be a positive as it should deter thieves from thinking camera gear is in there.

On a busy day this is what I carry. Takes come creativity but I assure you it all fits.
Canon 6D
Canon 70D
Canon 70-200mm
Canon 24-105mm
Canon 40mm Pancake
Sigma 50mm
Canon 17-40mm
2 Yongnuo Flashes
160-LED Video Light
Slim Tacklebox in the laptop compartment with batteries, microphones, cables, cleaning kits, etc.

Very comfortable and not too heavy, I carried this bag with me on a trip to Orlando (for Cincinnati) for a week. I had the bag loaded down with my 17" laptop and most of my wife's photo gear and it was not uncomfortable to wear (even when having to hike though the airports). The laptop slot is well padded and flat against your back, which helps to keep the bag comfortable. The photo compartment uses Velcro dividers and can be arranged however you need it.

This worked out really great for carrying a large DSLR, two extra lenses, extra batteries, laptop accessories such as mouse and charger, etc, and never felt overly full. Being the pack mule for my wife when she's on photography jobs, I really like the bag and I never really had a problem with it becoming uncomfortable, even after a couple hours of wearing it loaded down with gear. I would recommend this to a friend.
