This is a 3.6 Megapixel camera. A standard HD camera is only 2 Megapixels. So for the price this is an amazing camera. I am not using the NVR that can be purchased. I am using the FTP option that uploads to a Linux system I have, and then view the videos pictures via a web browser (Apache on Linux system is supplying the web service). It only uploads on motion (which is adjustable) and it gives you 5 seconds before motion, and 30 seconds after motion. There are also built in infrared LEDs to light up the area.
Support is amazing. Send them an email and within a few hours you get a response.
Note: The night picture I included is mostly lit from street lights. The center bright area is the infrared LEDs.
I'm very pleased with these cameras, especially given their cost. I purchased these to replace Netgear Arlo cameras which I found to be extremely problematic. The one big difference I noticed immediately was a narrower field with the Reolink camera. It would be nice if it was as wide as the Arlo so it would require fewer cameras to cover the same area. Despite this, in the case of the Arlo, the image quality was so poor it really makes little difference to have a larger field of a bad image. Clarity of the Reolink is far superior.
We've had a pretty cold winter here in 2018/19 (-30C/-22F) and these have worked without missing a beat (all are being used outdoors). I've been extremely impressed. There has never been any moisture intrusion into the cameras or fogging of the dome during times of high humidity or rapid temperature swings we can have (as much as 20-30C in a matter of hours during our winters).
As for construction, these seem to be well built. The casing (cast) and dome are very solid. Rubber gaskets are in place to make these weatherproof. Probably my biggest complaint is the reset button, which isn't even a big complaint. To mount these under an eave and tuck all the wires up into the attic space, it makes this button inaccessible without a lot of effort. Having said this, I have never had to perform a reset since installing them 7-months ago.
Some reviews have commented on night vision and I can't entirely disagree with a few of the negative comments. I made some adjustments to settings and found this to be much better, although I'm still not sure I can actually achieve the distance claimed.
My cameras and Network Video Recorder (RLN8-410) are all connected to my Ethernet network through a switch (cameras are not plugged directly into my NVR). When connected this way, the cameras simultaneously record to the NVR (24/7 or motion events as configured) and an optional SD Card inside the camera (motion events only). This ensures that as long as the cameras have power via my PoE switch, they will continue to record (motion events) even if the NVR should fail. The negative comment I have is how tedious it is to install the micro SD Card. The location of the slot is difficult to access given how tiny the card is (my fingers aren't tiny, but they aren't really big either). When the camera is already hanging under an eave, it's even more challenging.
Tech support has always been helpful but since they are overseas and can only be reached by e-mail, I had to give the overall rating 4/5 stars. I have had great response to support requests, in some cases almost immediately, but it can occasionally take up to one day to receive a response.
Admittedly, I don't have much experience with other brands/products. I've been very pleased with these so far and don't see a need to replace or upgrade anytime in the foreseeable future. I would like to see Reolink eventually offer an 8MP version. The only other feature I would like would be integration with the Amazon Show and Spot products.
I have had 4 Reolink cameras and have had good success with them. In my opinion , if I had to do it all over again I would not gotten the wifi models and would just use POE since it is a safer and more secure selection. This camera is well sealed with a rubber O-ring. The screws to attach the base to the ceiling had washers on them to help ensure a waterproof environment. It came with a waterproof jacket for the Cat6 connector. I put a 64gig sandisk memory chip in it and it was immediately recognized by the camera and prompted formatting thru the phone app.
I think if you take your time and make sure that all connections are as waterproof as possible and adding waterproof junction boxes this should keep the elements out.
I have the cameras hooked up to my Synology NAS and it is seamless If the cameras last I would highly recommend it.
I bought two of these to go with my 8 camera kit. They make a great addition to my setup. I put one in the front and one in the back of my house. These 2 cameras basically cover the whole area in the front and back. I mainly bought them because I was curious about the dome cameras and how they work. I also bought them for the zoom and vandal proof housing. Plus, they look downright professional once installed.
These are pretty awesome cameras. I wasn't expecting the excellent quality picture or camera housing that I received. I had to mount it low to take advantage of the wide view this camera offers. It would be useful to have extensions for this particular camera. I'm sure they exist somewhere, I just couldn't find them. I ended having to build my own extension to mount the camera on.
The reolink app that comes with these cameras is pretty full featured. I enjoy the app for the most part, however, there isn't a high speed or low speed playback. You can do that from the DVR, directly. However, they need to make it available on the mobile app and the client.
I have had about 3xRLC-423, 1xRLC-411 from Reolink, so when I saw RLC-422 is 20% off, I had to pull the trigger.
Reolink is probably the best POE+ camera (can't say for ip cameras, I never had them) I've ever used. I used Linksys' LGS318P to support all POE+ cameras and Reolink was one of the few that follow POE+ spec for class and such, so that it worked really well. I use Mac with Chrome most of the time, and Reolink's web UI was able to support viewing out of box, which is really impressive.
I have about 13 cameras around my house supported by Synology's Surveillance. Of them some are old CCTV with Jooan as a backend and they worked fine with RTSP; some are Amcrest that Synology supported natively. Hikvision worked fine but their software support is horrible. Camius was so horrible that I had to return it. Reolink's ONVIF was so accurate that it worked out of Synology's box.
This camera is 20% off right now and I think it's a steal.

While we were skeptical about the quality of a budget priced unit at first, we have had one of these units in service for at least six months now and it hasn't missed a beat. Image quality is certainly comparable to the A brand at just a third or quarter of the price. Configuration was straight forward and the IR lighting on the cam has been sufficient to light up a smaller-sized office so that we didn't have to goof around with trying to set up a separate IR light.
Reolink IP PoE Security Camera 4 Megapixels Super HD 2560x1440 4X Optical Zoom Vandal-Resistant IK10 Dome Outdoor & Indoor IR Night Vision RLC-422
I do security camera installation for various clients and this IP camera is by far the best in the market
auto focus is nice feature.
very easy to set up and camera viewing angel is wide 100 degree, works fine with Reolink App or any other 3rd party NVR.
will install this camera for 4 more clients in near future.
Overall very happy with this camera. I now have two installed and working. Had to return one to Amazon due to focus issues. Camera produces a detailed image during day and night. Easy set up to record on a WD NAS connected to a Mac. Love that there is no subscription needed. Also use SecuritySpy as the primary software interface on several macs in the house. Had to make a small out for the POE wire for a surface mount under a gutter. This should be pre cut at the factory. I also find that the clear enclosure needs to be spotlessly clean or the IR leds reflect or cause a compromised image at night. All said, I don’t think you can deat it for the price.
Awesome security camera along with great support reps from Reolink. I have a total of 7 Reolink cameras, all working excellent. The picture quality is very clear during the day. However, at night it can look blurry which it is understandable because it is in black and white. The only complaints I have with the camera is the motion sensor. No matter how much I adjust the motion sensitivity, it felt lIke there is no difference. A small wind blowing our tree or a small movement of the shade will trigger the motion and will begin to record.
Super easy to setup. Was basically plug and play with a PoE switch. The Reolink Client was very intuitive and easy to use. The Android Reolink Client is even better, after adding the device via UID you can stream the cameras anywhere with internet without having to port forward or do any network shenanigans. :)
Pros: Incredibly easy to setup. Extremely clear and crisp picture. Probably the best and cheapest PoE wide angle camera out there with 4 x optical zoom
Cons: Not sure about if the RLC-422-P has sound but just could not get it to work.
