Sojourners

Faithful, challenging, consistently great magazine. Sojourners stretches, empowers and strengthens my faith in Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and impels me to be part of God's work for peace and justice on earth as it is in heaven.

I love this magazine. The articles are well-researched and dynamic. Spot on for the world we are living in and the issues believers face. Very good for those of us interested in examining and questioning and growing - constructing and reconstructing our faith. High recommend.

I purchased this subscription for my boss - I love this magazine and share mine with anyone who wants it Sojourners is doing a great job!

Best of Chistianity is found in this magazine.

Christians live in an difficult age when disbelief is the norm, mediocrity defines many faiths, and passivity is not a choice of strength, but of fear. "Sojourners" discusses the real life of a believer.

"Sojourners" challenges all of those points. What does it mean to be a relevant Christian? With a myriad of complex social issues that Christians often respond to as a matter of politics and avoid examining the bibical principles.

Hunger. Homosexuality. Homelessness. Third world unrest. War. Gender leadership (in the Church).

What do you think?

"Sojourners" addresses and facilitates thinking about these issues. Don't expect it to preach to the choir, though it clearly has a liberal political view. It is, in some ways, like the old "Moody Magazine," with an emphasis on world issues.

Read "Sojourners" carefully, with your Bible in hand. Disagree or agree with them, you'll like find yourself more passionate about one side or another of an issue.

I fully recommend "Sojourners."

    Description

Award-winning Sojourners magazine covers cutting-edge topics in politics and faith, war and peace, social justice, art, and communityall from a deeply biblical and ethical grounding. Editor-in-chief Jim Wallis is an internationally recognized author and public speaker. His book God's Politics: Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It was on the New York Times bestseller list for 16 weeks.

I live an hour north of "Focus on the Family," a right-wing mega-church that seems more focused on anger than Christian love. They don't like liberals, gays, Muslims, multiculturism, Democrats and others. "Focus" and its authoritarian orientation advances a theology that's quite conducive to the goals of its neighbor, the US Air Force Academy.
With God on Our Side: One Man's War Against an Evangelical Coup in America's Military
"Focus" has a media empire with over 2000 radio stations around the world.
"Sojouners" on the other hand resembles the teachings of Jesus, they're concerned about the poor, and they advocate for peace & justice. Even their advertisements are heartening, as many of them are for opportunities to cultivate compassion in the world.
"Sojourners" is very well designed, both long and short segments, interviews, interpretations of scripture, etc. The current issue includes a segment on great books for children. It also features an article by Brian McLaren, adapted from his book Everything Must Change: Jesus, Global Crises, and a Revolution of Hope.
The editor, Jim Wallis, is a very influential author and speaker. It would be great if he was on 2000 stations. Fortunately, he has written some best-selling books such as God's Politics: Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It (Plus), and Sojourners is working on a radio studio.
I would urge people not to let themselves be deterred by some ordering obstacle. Maybe calling the magazine directly and ordering with a credit card would be a better way to go, or sending in a subscription card from a copy of the magazine. Either way, "Sojourners" is an important journal that deserves support.

I appreciate this magazine so much. Thoughtful articles - very insightful. I look forward to its arrival every month.

This is a great magazine. I would love to see it offered on Kindle though.

Sojourners Magazine is a welcome answer to the hate and Un-Christian messages of the radical right so-called religion writers and ministers. The articles in the magazine and their authors concentrate on the relevancy and truthfullness of the Progressive Christian message from Jesus Christ for the 21st century.
