Stand Steady Standing Desk X-Elite Standing Desk | X-Elite Pro Version, Instantly Convert Any Desk into a Sit/Stand up Desk, Height-Adjustable, Fully Assembled Desk Converter (Black)

This is perfect for my space which was too small for other types of standing desks. It is easy to operate and come fully assembled. I have a 2 17" monitor set up with wireless keyboard and mouse an it is very steady. I am very please with the purchase.

I hurt my back a few years back and what every back doctor told me is that it is very important for me not to sit my chair for a long time, but change between standing and sitting. Getting up and changing position is very important. I used a cardboard box to elevate my keyboard so I can mix standing and sitting, but the box was not very stable so I did not use it on consistent basis because it was wobbly and not very convenient. This table extension is very sturdy, does not wobble, and works well.

This extension desk sits on top of any normal table. The table you see in the stock photos is not included, only the table extension itself is what you get. It adds about 1" inch to the height when folded flat and then it can be cranked to raise form 1" to 16" inches. The cranking mechanism is on the side, when you press it it raises the table. To lower the desk you need to press on the release handle and press the desk surface down.

The extension is large but not huge - it is 28" long and 20" wide. In one of my photos you see a 13" laptop on top of it and there is room on both sides of it. The table extension is quite heavy, it weighs 27 pounds and it can holds 20 pounds. The raising mechanism is made out of metal and feels heavy duty. The desk itself is black. The bottom of the support is covered with foam, they prevent scratching the table the extension sits on.

Overall the desk extension is sturdy and does not wobble. Definitely a good thing to have for any person with a bad back.

This extension is provided by Stand Steady.

Ali Julia review

We purchased two of these desks for my office to determine if we wanted to buy over 30 of them. Although the money has not been approved, we love these desks! They hold two monitors, keyboard mouse. With a little room to spare. They come totally assembled, it is nice and heavy, good quality. The adjustable lever works well, similar to an office chair. I would definitely buy this again, but the quality is so great I'm sure it will last me forever.

I like the ease of setting this up. It's already assembled and it's very easy to adjust up and down. This was the primary reason that I ordered this specific standing desk (that, and the price). However, there are some caveats:
- At the lowest setting, it's still 5 inches above desk height. This isn't ideal for sitting down. I had to make sure I had enough room in front of it to move my keyboard and mouse to my desk when I want to work sitting down.
- You can't apply a lot of pressure to it when you're standing up. In other words, don't type too hard. Don't rest your wrists/forearms on it. It will start to collapse if you do. I'm not a light touch, so I'm just going to have to be more careful until I get in the habit of not pounding away on the keyboard.
I only had about an hour or so to use this at work once it was delivered, so this is just based on an hour of use. But I really love that I now have the option to stand at work. This isn't a perfect sit/stand desk, but if you don't want to spend $400 for one, this is a good option.

I have had back problems for a decade now (herniated discs, cortisone epidurals, multiple MRIs, etc. etc.). If the spine center I go to had a frequent buyer card like a sandwich shop I'd probably have a free MRI coming to me. I've been working to improve my ergonomics at work for years and a sit-stand desk has been on my radar. When i had my latest incident which caused me to cancel a business trip on the day I was to leave I knew it was time to pull there trigger. I have an Apple watch so I'm used to being told to stand every hour. Now I just raise my computer and keep it up for the next hour or so. I'm probably standing 50% of the time now at my desk. As an added benefit my circulation seems to have improved as my hands aren't as cold as they usually are. I have a heated mouse that's how much it bums me out. The product is heavy so you should get help getting it up to your desk but it is easy to use once it is there and it is very sturdy when raised. Cord management is important as you don't want any cords getting between the two sections as you could guillotine them when you lower it. I'm really glad I got it as it was the last piece in the puzzle of my work setup.

After searching for months and months for a variable sitting/standing desk that would fit with my home set-up and returning one that didn't work from VariDesk, I found this one. This is excellent and suits my needs pretty well. The VariDesk unit and almost all of the others I reviewed on Amazon and elsewhere would not work for me because in the seated/flat position they are almost all 6 inches above the desk. I am only 5'1" so that made the monitor way too high. Because of that, I had to return the VariDesk. This one works well because it is barely 2 inches above the desk in its flattest position. (See photos) It glides up and down smoothly and occupies a small amount of real estate on my desk. Yet it is large enough to accommodate my big, bulky, unwieldy ergonomic keyboard, with room next to it for the mouse. It was also much lighter than all the other sitting/standing desks on the market. This one weighs about 20 lbs but is very stable -- just right for a petite woman. I live alone so I don't have any help lifting heavy things. The VariDesk I returned weighed 45 lbs and was one of the smaller ones they offered. The only thing I dislike about this unit and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it doesn't have a lower pull-out tray for the keyboard. That makes the keyboard a tad high for comfort for my arms and wrists (I had carpal tunnel surgery on both years ago so my forearms and wrists are weak). But if I lower it so it's more comfortable for my arms and wrists, then the monitor is too low to see easily. Having a lower pull-out keyboard tray would have made this unit absolutely perfect. But then, that would have made it heavier too, so I guess you can't have perfection. Alas.

I have a desk job and am tied to it most of the 8 hour day. My desk is also pretty low which makes my legs go numb while sitting. I have tried making makeshift standup desks in the past but they were not piratical and looked awful. This is a fantastic solution to someone who hates to sit all day looking to make a change. However it is expected that it can't be perfect.
The Steady Stand did take up a bit more room than I anticipated, and had to let the cords dangle off the desk instead of using the desk cutout, but that is my mistake. However cords dangling is my pet peeve, so this is a bit unsightly for my taste, but I really don't think anyone cares and I'll get used to it. Another thing I don't like is whether the stand is all the way down or all the way up, my monitor does wobble the slightest bit while typing, so it is not completely solid, but that is a concession to the fact that it easily lifts and allows me to stand at work.

    Pros:
Makes a desk job more comfortable and easier to get moving (even if only a few steps).
Even in the lowest position, I can now adjust my chair to a higher setting and my legs already feel better while sitting.
    Lifts and lowers fairly easily.
Lightweight. I was able to carry, unpack and set up by myself.

    Cons:
    Slightly wobbles while typing.
It will take a little adjusting to the new ergonomics of the setup.

Ready to use right out of the box. I also looked at the Vari-desk Pro, but that is a much heavier unit and has a much larger footprint (lifts up and away from the desk) whereas the X-ELITE PRO is lighter and lifts straight up. I also use a 3M monitor stand since my 27" (BenQ) monitor doesn't have a long neck and I prefer to have my keyboard lower than my monitor. I had it within 24 hours with one-day shipping.

I love that this came fully assembled. Part of the reason I went for a converter vs. a full desk. However, the first desk I received from Amazon was wobbly. Upon inspection, it looks like one of the wheels on the lowering mechanism wasn't hitting the bottom, so any pressure at all would tilt the whole desk forward. That made me so nervous, having my iMac on it and a house of curious cats. I reached out to Stand Steady directly through their website, and they offered a replacement right away-- didn't even have to bother with returning the broken unit. It was at my house THE NEXT DAY, completely stable. They also honored my request of having the replacement sent in white, since I didn't see the color options here on Amazon (they're in different listings, and different prices!) and I really wanted the white instead of black.

So I see a lot of reviews mentioning how it's not steady at all-- Amazon must have a batch of bad ones that had the same problem as mine. So I definitely suggest reaching out to them because they'll do whatever they need to do to make you happy! I only took off one star for the sake of having to get it replaced in the first place. The white one I received also had a few small small chips in the paint as well, but nothing crazy.

The lowering / lifting mechanism is a little stiff at first but I honestly don't mind that, because I don't want it loose enough to fall down at the slightest trigger, you know? So it takes a little muscle to get it into position. The size is great for my 21" iMac, keyboard, mouse, and I have enough space for a notebook as well. So far, so good. I'm loving standing at my desk-- this is my first one and I already feel like I'm staying more focused!

This is the second sit stand desk I tried, and I love it. It's the only one that offers one level for my monitors and keyboard. The first one I tried had the raised surface for the monitors, it was too high, and I felt like I was looking up at my monitors when sitting, which strained my neck. This is perfect because the monitors are at the angle I like them to be at. The other one also required back muscle to raise, which is bad. This standing desk lifts straight up and down. It does take a little stomach muscle to raise it up off the desk, but not much.

The desk can be stopped at any height. At it's lowest, the keyboard is raised a little more than I like, but I think I just have to get used to it. I can adjust the keyboard so I'm using the desk as a wrist rest.

I read some reviews that it's not sturdy. I do notice that if I type furiously, the monitors wiggle a little. This is usually not a problem, certainly not so bad that it's a deal breaker. The size is perfect. I use two monitors, and the corners hang off the edges slightly, but not enough to be a problem. It's wide enough to use my keyboard and mouse comfortably.

I love it that I don't have to sit all day. I can stand and keep working when my rear end gets tired of sitting. Then when I get tired of standing, I can just sit back down in seconds. No more using empty copier paper boxes to prop things up on. It's quick to go from sitting to standing, it's pretty easy, and it's just genius.
