I bought this little speaker based on the great reviews it had posted by so many different people who were so impressed by the clear, loud output from this little speaker. However, I was not impressed. I bought another little speaker (an EasyAcc) for half the price, with additional features (an FM radio) which does put out great sound. Goes to show you that everyone's perception of good and great are different.

I was sent another speaker from the vendor. The vendor was correct, the first speaker has a defect of some kind. The new speaker works great....well worth the original price. Thank you thegroupdeal (vendor).
This speaker is great! It's loud indoors and out. I use it in my diesel truck since I don't have an aux cord and I can still hear the music perfectly and it's loud even with the windows down.

I have both the BLKBOX POP and POP MAX
I think you will find that POP MAX (many of the reviews here are unfortunately referring to POP and not the POP MAX as the POP MAX is about 3x bigger than the POP and the MAX has a rounded beehive shape that has ridges) has some advantages over the POP but both are pretty decent.
POP MAX has more dynamics to its sound... a little bit more bass and a lot more power. I have a two story home and the POP MAX helps to deliver the sound upstairs easier than the POP. POP MAX has volume control on the device itself while the POP doesn't so it makes it hard to get that particular balance of sound that fits perfect for your ears.
POP MAX has a speaker and microphone so if you're streaming music from your phone you will know when a call comes through and you can talk through the POP MAX device. At first I didn't like this notion that if you're entertaining and your guests may get a peak into the phone call if you don't immediately switch the source back to phone. However, I've been enjoying this feature and if you sit close to the device people can still hear you clearly on the other side of the phone call.
POP MAX comes with extra connection devices than the POP so I can connect my phone to my home stereo when I don't feel like using the wireless bluetooth mode and want a little more sound.
POP is great for that background ambiance sound- its not in your face and nor is it inaudible. The bass tones on this device sounds like you are snapping your fingers. POP MAX the sound can be more like a shouting at you from a distance but at least you have volume control to adjust for the balance. Also, the bass tones on this device sounds like hand claps. So no, you're never going to get the heavy, stud rattling bass as you get from a home stereo console but in general the treble end is quite soothing and balanced and for something about $35 you can't complain about the quality at all since its so portable. If using a cell phone you can't have two of BLKBOX POPs playing at the same time. So if you're like me and want more projection of sound I would opt for the MAX.
