ECR4Kids SoftZone Floor Rocker - Cushioned Ground Chair for Kids, Teens and Adults - Great for Reading, Gaming, Meditating, TV - Black

I'm a 130 lb, 5' 5" female, and I love sitting in this chair. It might not work for someone larger, but would be great for kids and smaller adults. It's well made and is like a rocking chair that's closer to the floor. Super comfortable.

Kids love it

My grandson loves this thing! Very well made and good looking too!

High-quality! Great for kids and adults

My grandsons love using this addition to our TV room.

Description

Rock safely back and forth as you read a story or play your favorite game! The ECR4Kids Soft Rocker is the perfect seating solution for children and adults in a classroom, daycare, or home. Ergonomic contours and plush padding make it ideal for reading, studying, meditating, watching TV, playing video games and more. Lightweight chair is fitted with dense foam and a soft, leather-like cover for style and comfort. Intended for use on the floor only.

This is a cute comfy rocker made of a leather-ette type fabric that feels pleasant, and is stretched on what seems like a reasonably light but sturdy plastic frame with cushioned padding along the seat and back. I'd say this chair would work best for your slender 4" to 5" tall youngster (or a thinner adult), because it's not very wide - see my pic w a dollar bill across the seat for reference. Also, it's most comfortable if your legs are long enough from your feet to your knees to keep you leaned back enough to hit the sweet spot of balance, but not so tall that your head starts to hang over the top. If your child is as small as the little boy in the photo, for example, the seat will be leaned forward more that the picture shows. My son, who is taller than the photo boy, needs to actively rock and push the chair up w his legs to be leaned back that amount, if that makes sense. Even so, it's not hard for him to rock, because the chair is light. He really likes the chair, and says it's comfortable even in the forward position (the position shown in my pic w no one on it).

The bottom of the chair has two plastic rails (black against this red) that touch the floor surface, to prevent damage to the leatherette. I sat in this and found it extremely comfortable as well. I tried to fall all the way backwards, and it wasn't very easy to do. I did push my way all the way back to the floor just to test for safety, and felt that you'd be fairly protected if you somehow managed to tip all the way back (no problem in the on-your-back position unless your head hangs over the top). All together a really nice piece of furniture that looks great in your room, and is pleasant to sit on.

I have one gripe about the red ECR4Kids Soft Rocker Chair so I'll go ahead and get it out of the way - the handle that is sewn onto the back of the vinyl would rip off if you tried to carry the chair with it. When I did lift the chair by the handle, I could see the thread pulled super tight and starting to stretch and separate from the material. You might could use it to pull the chair across the floor, maybe.

The red color looks great and clearly identifies this playful chair. I placed it in the playroom and let a 4 year old and an 8 year old go at it. Within seconds they were running full speed into the chair and letting it flip them aggressively into the carpet. They were like angry little bulls charging the waving red cape of the matador. It's just too tempting, I suppose. After encouraging the children to be civilized, they tested as the manufacturer intended.

It reclines nicely and stops naturally right before letting the top touch the ground. The posture of my oldest child improves significantly when he is using the chair to read or to use a tablet. His back is aligned straight when his body is either reclined or upright in the chair. In fact, this is what really pushes this product into the 5 star category. Proper ergonomics for children is very important, and this chair is a lot of fun too.

The construction is solid, but the folds in the materials and threading are roughed in at places. This isn't a finely crafted heirloom chair here, and it would really be unfair to hold it to that standard anyway.

CONCLUSION: The handle on the back of the chair is not that useful, certainly not to lift the chair. The chair is easy enough to move around without it anyway though, it not super heavy. This chair has a solid build and will be able to take some abuse from children. The vinyl is thick and easy to clean. It looks good. And the healthy ergonomics really wins me over!

From an 8-year-old: I give this chair four stars because it is small and I'm small too, so I can sit in it. The buttons come off pretty easily, but that was probably because we jumped on it when we weren't supposed to. It fits me best, but my older brothers also use it. They are 10-15 years old. My oldest brother is definitely too big for it.

Mom's perspective: This chair is great! The color is a bright primary red, very bold, but it's cute and just gives a fun punch of color in the room. The boys love to use it to play video games and watch movies. It has held up to the abuse of four boys over the last year, with the loss of a few upholstery buttons. They have not been gentle and I know it has been used as an amusement park ride rather than a chair at times, so overall I'm pleased with it. Comfortable, colorful, and durable. It fits my 8 and 10 year olds best.

Let me disclose first that, although I’m still fairly flexible, I am 68 years old. While I didn’t get this rocker for my use, I got it for my grandson’s room, I did feel obligated to test it out before writing this review.

My findings are that this is not meant for adults. Yes, it will comfortably hold and adult. It is a good fit, a comfortable angle, and an overall pleasant and relaxing experience to sit and rock while watching TV, knitting, or whatever. What is a less pleasant and relaxing is “dropping” into the rocking chair and later, very awkwardly, maneuvering out of it.

Children have no such problems. They drop onto it without any thought and get up the same way. They can actively rock or balance in one spot. Surprisingly, they also flip it in opposite directions (long side down) and use it as a stationary chaise longue (head on the short side meant to be the seat) or, another option, feet up on what is meant to be the seat. Regardless of position, the chair can still make a rocking motion. I was attracted by the photo of the little boy reading on the chair and thought it would make an excellent location for my grandson's daily 30-minute assignment. That has proven to be the case, just not in the position I anticipated.

Other details:
--It is not an insignificant size, but neither does it take up a lot or room. But, if you want to rock, you need to allow it more space for forward and back movement than just its size. (You can also place it close to the couch to limit how much motion to allow).
--It seems well made but the “leather” look is a bit short of convincing. It is, very clearly, a heavy (probably very durable) vinyl.
--The upholstery is well-finished and tufted for more comfort.
--The place where the back meets the seat is very rounded. If there was a more defined angle, I think kids would slide forward less. When you combine this rounded slope to the fact that there is no grip from the slippery vinyl, kids are constantly having to push themselves back up.
--Note that, if you have more than one child, they will constantly argue about whose turn it is. The attraction does not seem to diminish.
--The underside is reinforced by two heavy plastic curved pieces that form the bottom rails and protect the vinyl from constant wear against the floor. They also allow for a pretty wide arc when rocking.
--It can rock slowly, more or less in place but, can also rock pretty far forward and backwards if you have an overly energetic passenger.
--The color is not quite the way it looked on my monitor. I expected a red that was somewhere between flag red and burgundy. It is red, but a red that tends a little bit towards orange. (Still, it looks good in a room that has red/white/blue striped wallpaper).
--It is easily transportable from room to room for TV watching, etc. It has a strap in the back that, I assume, is meant for carrying or dragging. I have very little faith that this strap will hold the full weight of the chair after a while. I find it easier to just pick it up and carry it.

This ECR4Kids Soft Rocker Chair is well made, comfortable, and was a big hit with my toddler grandson! We have a small play area setup for my grandson to use when he visits and this chair has become a favorite spot for him to sit in when using his tablet or looking through picture books.

The chair is very low to the ground, so he can get in and out of it without much effort. It also allow him to rock on it without any real danger of falling off of it. The overall quality is quite good and it should last well past the time he physically outgrows being able to sit in it! The attached handle is useful when we want to move the chair out of the way for cleaning up, but I wouldn't use it when he is sitting in the chair.

Highly Recommended!
