V8 100% Vegetable Juice, Low Sodium Original, 64 Ounce (Pack of 6) (Packaging May Vary)

I love Low Sodium V-8. Admittedly, in the beginning, I had to train myself to like it. (If you ever had to get used to Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi, etc., or a healthy butter substitute, you know what I'm talking about.) I made the choice to opt for the Low Sodium because there is an incredible amount of sodium in the original formula, to the point where it almost makes drinking it a bad idea. This 11.5 oz can, in regular V-8, contains 920 mg of sodium, or 38% daily value. Holy cow, that is nuts! It's also a travesty, given that V-8 is so potassium rich, and many of us don't get nearly enough potassium in our regular diets. Potassium is an important regulator and can even impact blood pressure.
Okay, back off the soapbox: I love that V-8 has the good sense to offer the low sodium option, and I actually love the taste (now). I hope by reading this, a few people will give it a try. It also is satisfying enough to have as a quick on the go breakfast (in a pinch)!

I have always been a tomato juice, V-8 Juice person. Even before I started to find the recuperation properties of a good bloody Mary, on the morning after, a lot of things really. I always figured it was depletion of certain things like vitamin C.
As I retired the mornings after became rather boring and OJ went better with the coffee so my V-8 became a before dinner or late afternoon pick up. Until someone pointed out the High Sodium Content, so I tried Low Sodium, it tasted awful. Not one to give up I used some of the data that I acquired from an almost 5 year search for the perfect Bloody Mary, and started adding various ingredient's till I hit upon a mix that I was comfortable with.
The main things I add are lemon and or lime juice, I use fresh only and Tabasco. Season with garlic powder and onion powder and then the fresh ground Black Pepper and Celery Seed and of course I add a celery stick. And a lime wedge if you really want the look.
I have tried to list things that are not going to make it any less healthy.

We drink V-8 EVERYDAY!! I AM NOT JUST SAYING THIS! We really do. So we are V-8 professionals you might say. We drank the original one for a few years but since my husband had to cut back on salt this is where we started. Our first glass of the low sodium one ended up in the garbage disposal. If you are used to the original version, your first taste of the low sodium one will be horrid!! But we did get used to it and so will you. The low-sodium is not as "full bodied" as the original version (it's the salt, hello!!) but it's good and better for us none the less.. sometimes we will mix a small can of the original with this low sodium one... It really is a satisfying drink for either a snack or with a meal. And if you are cutting back on sodium but don't want to give up your V-8, it's perfect.

I've bought low sodium v8 from Amazon for years and I drink nearly 46 oz a day. So, I'm pretty familiar with the ingredients. They tend to vary the potassium amounts and have itermittently used different "natural ingredients" over time. These are used to mask the bitterness of kcl.

It looks like Campbell's has decided to tweak the recipe again. New bottles have lower calories, lower fiber and have now added beta carotene. Looks like what they've done is dilute the v8 by about 10% and mask that with extra vitamin A and C so they can still make the same advertising claims. The added vitamin A is indication they probably cut back on carrot juice substantially. The loss of fiber comes from using less tomato paste. Campbell's is struggling financially so I'm not surprised they'd do this, but it's kind of frustrating. Their low sodium tomato juice is quite superior in taste to other juice manufacturers. Hopefully, this isn't a the start of them ruining the product.

Since I don't need to have fruit in my vegetable juice, I prefer this over others. There is a full flavor without that flavor coming from tons of salt which is something that seems to happen all the time. The flavor is what I like and I use it as a vegetable serving. When semi-fasting, I will have a glass of this with a hard-boiled egg and I know I have a veg and a protein which helps on those days when I'm cutting back. I sometimes add a bit of hot sauce to it and always drink it cold. Home juicing is better but if you don't do that, this is great to have on hand.

WEIGHT LOSS! Wow! So I suffer from salt sensitivity and I avoid salt as much as possible. I've been drinking the low sodium V8 for a while. I never really drank more than a glass a day. Just the other day I had a BIG glass worth, at least 16oz. I noticed afterward I was flushing out excess fluid. After a couple days of drinking the BIG glass worth, I lost about 10lbs of excess fluid. Nice! The taste will grow on you. At first, it was meh. Now I find it absolutely delicious!

don't love it, but V8 Low Sodium 100% Vegetable Juice, 11.5 Fl Oz Cans (Pack of 24) is really an excellent product.
i have no dietary need of low sodium, but there is so much extra sodium in most of the prepared foods we consume, i try to keep my consumption at a minimum.

the taste of this v8 is flavorful without the interference of the extra sodium.
i noticed a discrepancy between the number of servings as stated on the can and in the description of the product; the can has 1 serving per can and the description states 2 servings of vegetables per can.
the description for the original v8 in the 5.5 fl. oz. can states 1 serving of vegetables per can, so perhaps the 11.5 fl. oz. can has 2 servings of vegetables.

in any case, this doesn't change my rating of the low sodium v8 in the 11.5 fl. oz. can.
also, when i put 1 case of 24 cans in my cart the price was about $23.80, or about $0.99 per can.
fortunately, i fell asleep before i could complete the order, and when i woke up i noticed a price change in my cart which was decreased to $16.72
[$7+], or about $0.70 per can, which is the 1st time a price change in my cart worked n my favor.
4 weeks ago i placed an item in my cart for $47+ which was good enough for me to buy 2, and then added a couple of more items to my cart, and just as i was set to proceed to checkout, i noticed the blue lettering stating a price change in my cart [i almost missed it] turned out within 4-5 minutes
my $47+ item increased more than $10 each, so i saved it for later hoping for a subsequent price decrease.

so, to get back on track with this review of the low sodium v8 juice, i am very pleased with this transaction because of the price [$0.70/can, but even at $0.99/can, this an excellent buy considering it is a processed food.

i can and do better, when i make my own fruit and vegetable drinks with my 5 year old blendtec icb3 blender [1500+ watts, 2.5 hp, 13 amps], but
sometimes i get lazy, and the v8 juice in a can is very convenient with its pop top.

peace,
&
health.

I consider these essential for everyday nutrition and for workout recovery. Each 11.5 ounce can has over 1100 mg of potassium, which really helps me hit my daily goal of 4700 mg.

However, the price on the 24-pack of 11.5-ounce cans just shot up over ten dollars, so I'll have to source these elsewhere now.

I actually love this vegetable juice. I bought this at my local walmart in the low sodium to try cut way down on my sodium intake but i also bought the regular one to with lots of sodium in case i did not like the lower sodium. So after i tried the low sodium i decided i loved it and won't even touch the higher sodium one anymore and i give that to others that like it. Since then i have come here to amazon to get it in the 24 packs. This is my second time buying it and the price the second time was a little higher which i was not happy about but for a couple dollars more to be shipped to my door is not the end of the world but it still sucks. Either way I still recommend this to anyone that wants to try add something better to their diet.

I love V8 and this is V8! I was hesitant to get the low sodium variety as I had previously recalled it to be measurable different but I was pleasantly surprised to find otherwise. Granted I was not drinking them side by side but I could not tell the difference between low sodium and the regular V8. Great price too, stocked up for the office and have one in the AM and one in the evening. Being low sodium, drinking two or more a day is not an issue, and while I also try to get some real fruits and veggies, V8 is a great complement to busy living when what you should do is not always what you do do!
