It was great to receive this bombilla. I wish it was larger though. It barely fit enough water to have a small cup of tea. Other than that, the bombilla shipped perfectly fine. I love that it's glass since cleaning is so easy. I read up on the wood versions and thought about the long term maintenance and higher potential for unwanted growth. Overall, the glass is the way to go for ease of upkeep. I've switched over to yerba mate from my coffee consumption and I've already felt the improvements. Still love the taste of coffee, but this will give me the focus that I need for the day without the crash or after-breath.
Amazing gourd, decent bombilla, WRONG COLOR. I ordered light brown with black stitching, not maroon with purple stitching. Still great for mate, though. Perfect for personal all-morning use or for a couple sharing over breakfast. Don’t pay mind to those saying it’s too small. This is absolutely perfect. It isn’t too delicate, either. Plus, simple cleaning vs curing/drying is an additional plus.
Love this product! I'm officially an authentic Uruguayo. Any time of the day you can catch me out and about sippin my maté haha. Easy to clean, nice looking. Only complain I'd say is that it's very small inside so needs to be refilled with water after just a few small sips. But that's not far off from other cups so no big deal for me tbh but definitely something to be aware of when considering the purchase
Stylish mate "gourd". I use it every day.
I love drinking out of glass, and yet I love how the glass is stylishly wrapped in leather.
If I were to introduce a friend to mate, I would buy them this as a gift.
The bombilla (straw) is good enough, but as one gets more serious about mate they might consider buying a separate one of higher quality. Gets the job done, however.
This glass and leather gourd is much bigger in person, if you fill it up to create the usual "ramp" of mate, be prepared for a long solo cup of mate. It took me the better part of a day to make it through a cup!
The shape seems to brew a stronger cup as well. Though if you are sharing with others you should have plenty of mate to go around before refilling.
Well made and sturdy it should give years of service.

Description
What is Yerba Mate Tea?
Yerba Mate is a green tea infusion from South America that is traditionally drunk with a gourd called mate and a straw called bombilla. The tea is very distinct with a strong natural herbal taste, It has a potent yet soothing kick that will keep you awake and alert and will help you stay focused when you would normally be tired and worn out. It does this without all the caffeine of coffee. If drank properly it is a great dietary supplement, suppressing the appetite while providing you with all the nutrients needed to sustain life, including 24 vitamins and minerals and 15 amino acids. In addition, this South American yerba tea has many other herbal health benefits! t also holds a very symbolic ritualistic tradition around the gathering of close friends, family, and community in that only one gourd - mate is used to serve several people and is usually passed around.
What do you need to prepare mate?
To prepare mate, you first need the "yerba". You can buy these dried and ground leaves in several forms, such as herbs or fruit flavored; although the most commonly used is the so called "yerba mate con palo", with more or less 65% of dried leaves and 35% of chips and fibers from the yerba mate. The mate (container) is also needed along with the "bombilla" (straw); and hot water just before boiling. If you are going to drink mate with a group of people, then you should have a thermos to maintain the water temperature for longer.
Preparation process
Fill 3/4 of the MATE wiyh YERBA MATE. Cover the mate with your hand and shake softly. Till the Mate towards a side. Pour warm water down the emptiest side. Place your bombilla into the empty side. Pour hot water (84ºC, the water must be hot not boiling) over the mate leaves. Relax and enjoy your Mate.
Arrived quickly as promised.
I like the Mateo, however the Bombilla has sort of a flaw to it, specifically ; it can get hot, even though I brew my Yerba using 80 degree C as it should be.
Just be aware and on the careful side.
Great so far! Super easy to clean. Just recently got turned on to the traditional way to drink mate. Looks great too!
Picture is very telling of what it looks like so is description, albeit did not know how small 6.7 ounces is "stupid Americans". I've only used once
and pumped to continue use. No problems at all thus far, just looking from a outsider's pov it looks like I'm holding just the bombilla . Very happy with
the purchase and this way of life myabe later ill go with something bigger or maybe not.
Just so pretty, love my little mate, soft to the hands and barely warm when hot water is poured in. Very good purchase. I love the fact I can wash the mate after use, bought a longer straw, but both work just fine.
