MIU COLOR Pet Grooming Undercoat Rake Comb Dematting Tool, TPE + PP, 11 Teeth Wide(Blue)

This tool is great for my large Maine Coon cat. He has several mats and knots in his fur, especially toward his back end, and hips. This tool is ideal for only removing the undercoat and if your pet has knots and mats. It is not intended for daily maintenance of your pets fur. I suggest a FURminator for your daily brushing routine. I found that the comb works best if you use short strokes starting at the head of your pet. If you come to a mat or knot, do not yank or pull, you will hurt your pet. Lightly comb on top of the mat or knot and around it. This tool will slowly make the mats smaller. It will pull at your pet's fur, so be mindful when combing cats; their skin is thinner and it may make Fluffy uncomfortable. To avoid having your cat hate you, only comb for 2-3 minutes at a time. Fluffy will need a long break between sessions. The fur will go flying everywhere the first few times you use it, especially if you do not regularly groom your pet. You can either just deal with it and be sure to vacuum when done, or spray a little water or dematting spray to prevent a mess. You'll notice when you get your comb that sides are not identical. One side has more teeth than the other. Start off by using the side with less teeth then switch to the other side. It seems to be more effective and less stressful on my cat. Lastly, do not expect this tool to remove all of your pet's mats or knots in one session or in one day. It takes multiple sessions over several days to get out the majority of the mats and undercoat.

We bought this with little hope that it would actually work. We tamed a feral cat (over the course of almost 2 years) and though we could finally pet him, we knew we'd never be able to work his mats out. We were able to cut a few chunks with scissors, but that was it. The mats got so bad this summer that we were considering taking him to the vet in a live trap and having them put him under anesthesia to shave them. But we decided to try this product, first. When it arrived, we were disappointed and thought we wasted our money... it didn't seem to do much. But we tried again a few days later, and it turns out it is all in your technique. Once we tried short, light strokes, it started working like a charm. Within an hour Will Feral looked like a brand new kitty and we got ALL of the mats out! We don't have to take him to the vet now and have him put under for an expensive procedure. And even better, he looooooooves it. Now we brush him every night and he can't wait. It's definitely worth it if you take the time to do it correctly. The key is to do it very gently, and don't start straight down at the skin. Instead, work the mats out from the end, working your way up toward the skin, just like you would when detangling your own hair. Use very short strokes and then the mat will just come out in a clump before you know it!

I just received this item in the mail today and I am very pleased with it. I have a beautiful Main Coon fluffy kitty who had a nasty knot in his tail. I was able to remove the knot today though I was prepared to work on it for a couple of days. My boy does not like to be touched so he kept walking away but I kept brushing his whole coat little by little and already he looks so much better! Such a great price for a great tool!

I use this rake on my golden's coat. It is just as good as Top Paw and other rakes. It leaves the nice smooth hair on my dog while taking out the undercoat. Using it really helps cut down on her shedding and keeps her look her best.

- We have Maine Coon cats, which are famous for thier "underlayers" of fur that constantly cause a problem with matting, knotting and such. We must have every kind of brush, steel combs, matting rakes (different function), slickers, etc., but, we've never had a tool that removed so much hair (from underlayers), so easily ! It was really astounding...even after brushing my cat thouroughly with her steel-long-wire brush, her "fav" regular brush, and - collecting the loose hair with her "love glove"...This rake pulled out handfull after handfull of undercoat hair ! Even after grooming my Main Coons for years, I've never seen such a thing. And my cat did not protest this at all ! This is the best tool ever for PREVENTING those nasty hard clumps and mats that cost big money for a pro to remove. This tool will be too late at that stage, ie: it won't break-up the thick, hard mats/clumps ...most of which are quickly beyond the scope of any tool, other than clippers. But for preventing this syndrome of matting (some of which become so hard, so quickly), I have finally found the perfect tool ! Just a warning for the new user: even if you think you have your cat completely brushed and "slickered" ...be prepared for FLYING HAIR when you apply this tool ! Not kidding, at all ....you will want to moisten, use a de-tangler before raking, or you'll wind up grabbing a face mask, as I did ! ;-)

The family cat is 19 years old. She's gotten to the point that she struggles with her grooming a bit. I'm happy to report that this works great. She has very long soft fur, she's a siamese persian/ragdoll mix (we have no idea, just going by her blue eyes and temperament). She's a very nice kitty, but these mats got pretty big in the time I spent living away from home. She's well mannered but still cried the whole time and bit me 6 times (more of a protest than anything). Be warned if you have a fussy cat they won't like having their naps pulled out no matter how gentle you are. she would never hurt me intentionally, but if you have a fighter where some thick gloves. She just fussed, she doesn't like being brushed much either.

I love this tool because it allows me to isolate the mats from her skin, thin them out, then gently pluck them out one by one, which I'm sure she appreciated. It takes a good amount of time, but I didn't have to shave the larger mats!. She's quite happy even though she won't admit it.

I don't usually buy inexpensive tools, but this is the best matt breaker rake I have used in 20 years of grooming. The curved teeth/blades are smooth enough not to pull hard enough to be uncomfortable for the dogs and shaped so that it is impossible to scrape their skin. It cuts hair, so it should not be used for routine combing of double coated dogs, but it is great for deshedding if one is careful not to overuse it. The blades will not cut through coat that is solidly matted, but it does cut through small mats and knots easily. I use this tool first, followed by a regular rake, then a wooden pin brush, and finish up with a comb.

This is a great brush for long haired cats. I purchased this for a long haired foster cat who had burrs and many bunches of matted hair. With careful slow brushing I was able to get some of the knots out. Other knots were resistant to combs and this rake so I had to just carefully cut them out with scissors. However, I continued to use it to brush out the undercoat and extra winter fur. After handfuls of excess hair for a week, we were able to pet the little guy without ending up covered in his fur. The cat loved being brushed by this comb and purred constantly.

Fantastic tool! My long hair kitty was get to g so many hair mats and was unable to groom them out. Groomers wanted $60+ to get them out and get wanted $200 to anesthetized her to remove them. We saw this a s figured it probably wouldn't work that well but what the neck it was under $10. Let me tell you, we are and were amazed at how great it worked. It loosened and removed the most stubborn of mats and deferred her stubborn under coating that was the prime cause of the mats. She loved the grooming tool and she hates to be brushed!!!! THIS GADGET IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!

We have a long haired GSD, a Russian Blue, and two tuxedo cats... in other words our house is fur central. We have tried 7 other combs/brushes before my husband randomly ordered this one. I was more than a little annoyed because we have so many worthless brushes around here and I wasn't looking forward to another one. Blowing it off I handed it off to my hubs and went on about life thinking nothing of it. Until he started leaving me balls of hair to clean up because this thing is AMAZING. He even took it to a relative's caucasian ovcharka (google that and have your mind blown) and decimated its undercoat.

Can't believe I'm saying this but honey, you were right, I was wrong. Now I can recommend this to all the other folks who shop here so they can prove their partner wrong too.
