With a brand name like G-Dealer I thought these 'pocket scales' were designed for more back alley, or passenger seat of vehicle for things that you could get in trouble for, but I was extremely mistaken mistaken, These scales are more than capable of weighing various kitchen items and accessories such as oregano, Italian herbs, parsley flakes, or even baking soda.
Boy was I surprised, these scales do fit comfortably in my pocket, so I can weigh my oregano on the run, When you run into a old friend and they say hey how are you going, would you like to have some oregano, and you say, I sure would but my day would be so much better if we could agree that the oregano has been accurately weighed.
That's where these bad boys come in.
Sometimes I will go over to a friends house and we will weigh some oregano, and it appears that while these scales are accurate for weighing 5 or 10 grams of oregano rather accurately they are just too small to measure a few ounces of oregano without having to split it up. into smaller amounts.
If we have been sitting around for a few hours and have had many oregano's then it becomes difficult to track how many oregano we have weighed and it is just not practical to write down how much oregano one has weighed on a piece of paper because sometimes when people write things down then it comes back to haunt them later.
Luckily the creators of these scales have thought of everything and the surface can also be used as a miniature whiteboard so you can keep track of how many ounces of oregano you have weighed with a simple dry erase marker.
UPDATE: After calibrating the scale, using the aforementioned calibration weights from HFS, the scale works perfectly - I managed to eliminate the 0.1% error. However, due to the degree of sensitivity of the scale, the ± 0.03 grams error still remains (but that's really only an issue with objects of greater mass). Also, for best results, make sure the objects to be measured are placed on the center of the scale.
Updating to 5 stars.
I was told that this scale needed a 500g weight for calibration. It doesn't, when entering calibration mode it requires 100g
To enter calibration mode long press m until CAL displays then press M.
Imagine my surprise when my new 500g calibration weight showed up as 100.21g... So somehow my scale was not properly calibrated at the factory... Now need a 100g weight.
I will update review after my scale is properly calibrated.
Update, I received a 100g weight. I was more than happy to get my scale calibrated properly. I have a 500g that I purchased for this scale, now that the scale is calibrated, it reads out 500g perfectly. I also have a 25g total weight for my old balance scale, it also reads 25g perfectly. I'm very happy with the scale and it all came right in time for Pinewood derby. Now I know what my kids cars weigh, no more messing with taking to the post office, or it's about X. Now let's just hope the official pinewwod scale is properly calibrated lol
Since I'm using the scale for Pinewood I'm weighing after every change I make, I've grabbed a known weight every day just to check and it's holding calibration. The scale is easy to use, buttons have a nice positive feel to them. The screen is clear and very easy to read. I love the two trays that come with it, the only thing I could ask is if the would lock onto the scale for storage. I'll be looking for or making a box for it asap.
I love the scale, however, it is not calibrated 100% correctly, and I wish that I had known in advance that I'd need 500g calibration weights to calibrate the scale. I only have a 50g weight, which is how I determined that the calibration is off. The extra weights will be an unfortunate yet necessary additional expense. And I do mean expense; it will cost more than the scale itself. Overall, I am very satisfied. It has replaced my old one and is much nicer. I would have given five stars if I didn't need 100% accuracy...but I do. 😉 It's okay, it's legal here now.
On a more serious note, I love that you use the tray instead of just putting stuff directly on the scale. Also, I wanted the larger weight capacity for food, as well as what I'm usually using it for.
UPDATE 11/22/2017: It's been two years since I bought this scale. In that time I've used it very heavily and it still works like it's brand new. This is honestly one of the *two best items I have ever bought on Amazon, and have since bought two more because most every product I really like seems to stop being sold.
* For the curious, the other best product I've bought on Amazon is the Zeny 16" (400mm) Impulse Manual Bag Sealer
FYI, I also purchased a larger capacity scale from GDEALER, which is of the same high quality, with an amazing array of functions like counting, etc.: the GDEALER Digital Kitchen Scale 11lb/5kg Accuracy Food Scale Multifunction Kitchen Scale with Bowl, Stainless Steel, 2.15L Liquid Volume, Alarm Timer, Temperature, Backlight LCD Display.
I purchased this scale after buying several other scales, from other sellers, that I wasn't completely happy with. This scale is not only the best scale I've bought on Amazon, it may be the best product I've bought on Amazon! And, just in case the fact that I love this scale causes it to be discontinued when I want to buy another one (doesn't that always seem to happen?), I've bought two so far, and am buying a third right now. This is honestly one of the best deals on Amazon.

These Amazon scales are hard to buy based on reviews. I bought this after browsing several in a similar price range. If you are looking to buy this for mixing e-Liquid you should probably avoid it. This scale is pretty poor on consistency and accuracy even after calibration. The numbers jump around all over the place, and half the time it simply doesn’t register. For instance, suppose one of your recipes call for .5% of something, you need the scale to be very sensitive and accurate to get low percentages into your mix. There are times I’ve put 5-6 drops in a bottle after zeroing out and it fails to register at all. That’s a major problem as you might end up with something more like 1.5%. It’s a shame because the size of the scale is nice, nice little cover, good size weighing surface, larger easily readable display but if it’s not precise it’s relatively useless for this application. If you are weighing anything over .10 grams it’s pretty accurate but this is marketed as reading to the .01 grams which it does poorly. Unfortunately I don’t think I have any choice but to return it which is a Hastle. The 3 stars are strictly for the physical attributes.
UPDATE 1.17.19
The seller contacted me by email to follow up (most likely after review) and after a short exchange sent me out a new scale. The new one is much more stable, the numbers don’t jump around and I can now say for the price I’m very pleased. I’m updating this to 5 stars just for the excellent customer service. Many amazon sellers wouldn’t go that extra mile to satisfy customers and it’s a breath of fresh air. Make sure when you get this scale to check it’s calibration and that the numbers aren’t bouncing all over the place because if they are it could be defective and it appears the seller is more than accommodating about making right on it. Major kudos to them.
This is a proper scale. It is very consistent and accurate plus it looks cool. I had purchased another scale, just a basic pocket scale with only 0.1g but it didnt work well at all even after calibration. I ordered this scale and it worked flawlessly out of the box. Even with it at 0.01g increments this scaled weighed the same item with identical weights before/after calibration. Dont waste your time with this other cheap BS! Spend the money, get this one. Having the piece of mind knowing that you are weighing exact measurements every time is worth it alone!
I make my own eliquid and have gone through a few different scales. This one is hands down the absolute best! It comes with a really awesome protective case that keeps the scale safe from any semblance of pressure being put on it. It is a great size for some larger bottles, would accommodate a good sized condiment bottle, so I don't have to mix small batches of stuff. And the measurement of the scale goes up high enough so that I can mix larger batches (250ml). Don't hesitate for a moment. If your intended purchase is for vaping, then buy this scale.
I am in love with this scale! I bought it to weight the representative bars from my soap batches. Each bar gets weighed weekly to monitor weight-loss, which is primarily water loss. When the representative bar stops losing weight then that batch for soap is usually fully cured. Even though soap can be used before a full cure, the soap is better when cured. Anyway, the precision of this scale is allowing me to know just what is going on with my soap with no guesswork. It is so nice to have the readability to the 1/100 of a gram.
First of all, I like to say that this is an excellent little scale!!! I have had it for 1 week and used it at least 200 - 300 times. even though it's relatively cheap, it's pretty accurate. I compared it against 2 other very expensive lab scales worth over 1,000 dollars and I can attest that this little scale is spot on. I even bought a 6 piece precision Steel Calibration Weight Kit Set to test the scale, all six readings were accurate. This is the first time I had to weigh fractions of a gram (0.18 grams) and was kind of skeptical at first into buying this scale, now I have even ordered a couple more for my co-workers.
