Anker PowerCore Lite 20000mAh Portable Charger, Ultra-High Capacity 4.8A Output Power Bank, External Battery (Black)

I was originally a bit upset with this purchase because I thought it had to be fast/quick charge capable for its price. Anker's support team contacted me and are shipping me a Quick Charge battery free of charge. I don't know of many companies that are willing to do that. This isn't even the first time that they've gratuitously helped me out with a product that I've purchased from their company. If customer service is big for you, don't be afraid to deal with Anker.

One thing that this battery provides is a Trickle Charge option which explains the higher price for a non-Quick Charge battery. This is important to make note of when deciding what battery is right for you. This feature allows you to effectively charge low drive electrical products, such as Bluetooth headphones. If that isn't something that applies to you, then Anker has other models to fit your needs. If it is something you are looking for, as some batteries don't even charge those devices, then this battery is a good choice.

Build wise it's about what you'd expect. It's not very compact but the trade off is durability. It feels heavy duty and the USB ports fit the plugs snugly. The case it comes with is made of a nice quality mesh. It's definitely not cheap feeling.

It charges my Samsung Galaxy S9 in a little under 2 hours while my default Fast Charger does it in about 1.5 hours. That's pretty fast considering that this isn't a Quick Charge battery.

Buy this if:
-You charge devices that don't require a high charge such as Bluetooth headphones or simple USB devices.
-Prefer durability over compactness

Look for another model if:
-You need Fast/Quick Charge
-You don't need trickle charge

I bought this as soon as I received an email that this was out. No need to “have for two weeks” to get a true understanding that this is a Anker product, which anker always makes amazing products. The new iPhones are being announced tomorrow so I was in need of not only an upgrade to my phone but to my portable charger. I previously had the PowerCore 5000 which was compact and could charge my iPhone 6s at least 2 times which was wonders. But now I need more, more juice.

Update: anker contacted me after I posted my initial review and offered to send me a lighter weight model with quick charge capabilities at no extra charge. To say that I am impressed is putting it lightly. The new charger, power core II 10000 is much more my style. It fits in my purse without weighing it down and I can carry it in the palm of my hand without issue. I used it on a trip last week and it charge my phone quickly and recharged fast as well.

Just to clarify, there's nothing wrong with the Powe core lite 20000, it is just not the right model for me. I appreciate the good customer service anker provided and added a star to my initial review

Initial review: First impressions are meh. For the price, I would expect a bit more. First, it's heavy. I mean, it's like carrying a big rock in my purse. It feels about as heavy as my surface pro, if not heavier.

Second, from 24% battery life on my galaxy s7 the Samsung quick charger estimated a 1 hr 0 min charge time to full. This anker battery estimated 1 hr 12 min charge time. Not a huge difference obviously. I can probably live with it but like I said, for the price I would expect better.

I gave it 4 stars because I judged it based on two factors; how 'portable' it is and how well it works.
I was really surprised with how heavy this thing is. This was my first portable charger unit so I'm not sure if this is standard for a 20000mAh unit or Anker just intentionally built this one like a tank, therefore I didn't give it 3 stars.
But it does work as intended. It chargers my phone and tablet at the same time efficiently and it definitely will be good to take away as backup for a couple of days of vacation.

I think this is just too heavy for a "portable" charger. Had I known this was gonna be this heavy I wouldn't have bought it. But if you're a clumsy person or don't mind something heavy then this unit is perfect. This thing is solid. Even though I haven't dropped it, I'll bet it can stand up to a lot of abuse.

9/11/18: Received my order and excited to try out this new product. Had to charge it overnight to be fully charged. Will be testing this for the next few weeks and will come back for an update! It's a lot heavier than I thought though, but I guess that's what we get for a 20,000mah battery!

11/26/18: Took this battery with me on my recent trip to Seoul and Bangkok. It holds so much charge that i was able to charge it on the plane and then the next day I arrived. Loving this battery so far!

PowerCore Lite 20000 Portable Charger

I got the powerpack for travel, whether doing a day or few of flying or camping, and wanted a larger capacity one for powering all our gadgets and phones. This seemed perfect, and USB-C is a very relevant feature to have, as without it would take forever for the battery to charge. So far we haven’t had a chance to try it on a longer trip (and it is a tiny bit too big for purse, but if I needed power for long hours out, I’d just get a larger backpack to fit it). My husband has used it on a few worktrips and is happy with it.
USB-C, large capacity, and we’ve never had a bad experience with any Anker product.

I've bought many anker products since back in 2013 as well and with the new phones coming out I need a bigger battery bank. And this thing is amazing. Granted my old battery banks are great and I use them for my gopro and iPad. I can't recommend these products enough. Glad Anker is selling these at an awesome price compared to other companies.

Though on the heavier side , but that will not stop you from carrying it around . The build quality is fantastic and much smaller in length than the previous power banks of similar capacity. As like all Anker products , this one is also highly recommended !!!

This thing is an absolute savage of a charger! No electricity for a week? No problem. This mean SOB will charge an iPhone 8 Plus for 4 or 5 consecutive days and still beg you to hook up with your iPad Air a couple of times to drain the rest of its juice. It’s not in the pamphlet, but I’m fairly certain this thing could jump start a big rig wrecker in pinch, or maybe even power a tiny home for an hour or two. Seriously folks, I got around 10-12 full charges for my iPhone 8 before I had to recharge the battery. It does take 5+ hours to recharge, but unlike my old lady, it does not mind spending a night alone and turns itself off when finished.

I bought this for my husband so he could charge on the go, however I would not describe this portable charger as “light and compact.” I had hoped he could throw it into a cargo pocket with his phone, but it is much too big and heavy for that. This power bank is bigger than my hand and weighs too much to carry on your body. It is portable in the respect that you could throw it into a bag with your computer or something, but I would not carry it in my purse. I found the description of “light and compact” misleading and for that I gave it only 4 stars. Otherwise, it does what it says it does and we have been pleased with other Anker power banks we have had in the past. Just wish it was smaller/ lighter and truly portable.
