The only way I could love this more is if they made it twice as large- with 16 cubbies instead of 8, or that two units could be stacked. (I am aware that this brand has larger units with more cubbies, but according to the specs the openings are not the same size as this one.) I purchased this to use for my homeschool classroom, to use with bins that I already have. Sterilite 19658604 Deep Clip Box, Clear with Blue Aquarium Latches, 4-Pack Short of building my own shelving unit, I was having trouble finding something that would fit my bins the way I wanted- until I found this unit.
It was easy to assemble; I was able to do it mostly by myself though my 10 year old daughter assisted when needed. It only took about 1 1/2 hours and that included interruptions from my kids. It is real wood. The instructions were easy, however pay attention. I was using the pictures in the instructions as a guide for which direction each shelf and divider should be placed and I almost put the shelf dividers in backwards until my daughter pointed out that "one of the edges is smooth while the others were rough"- obviously the smooth side goes in the front :) Also the 'pre-drilled' holes for the casters were just little pinpricks and did not line up properly with the casters, but not a big deal, I just used them as a rough guide. Everything went together well with the enclosed hex tool and a Phillips screwdriver- no power tools needed. I plan to order a second of this same unit, and have a couple others from this brand in my 'wishlist'.
Using it as a bookshelf and to hold toy bins and it is working great. Helped to get all the clutter up off the floor and see exactly what the kids have so they can play with all their toys.
Rounded corners, sturdy and non toxic. It’s been a wonderful addition to our kids toy area.
really nice, real wood, worth the money. Be careful with the 'post and lock' system fasteners, I accidentally ran one in a little to deep, and so the cam caught the wider head instead of the post and actually broke. Not a big huge deal, since this is pretty over-built. I you used wood glue (correctly) it would probably last forever.
