Etekcity Digital Hanging Luggage Scale, 110 Pounds, Rubber Paint, with Temperature Sensor and Tare Function, Portable Scale for Travel, Household and Gift, Silver, Battery Included (1 Pack)

These luggage scales are really convenient and useful. We used our previous scale extensively, and this one is good, but not 5 stars. It comes with a small circle quarter-sized battery (nice), and it is small and relatively easy to use. The instructions don't mention whether it has a power off timer, but I verified that it does power off after a few minutes of non-use. It says it can display temperature, but I didn't see it on the initial display and didn't really care to click another button to see that (maybe I'll use that later). I tested 50lbs of weights and it came up around 49lbs, so it looks relatively accurate (important for airline 50lb weight limit). The strap appeared solid and stable. The strap has a hinge clip that you thread through the luggage handle and hook the clip at the base of the scale. Works fine, but I liked our previous one that had a strong plastic clip that popped in place (felt more intuitive and user friendly). The underside of the handle is flat and plastic which you start to notice with heavy lifts. Our previous one had curves for your fingers to rest in and a rubber material to make it more comfortable. This one is fine and well worth the cost, but it isn't the best we have used.

This scale works great!! I bought it to weigh my luggage for the airlines. When I packed it going, I weighed it, and it showed 40 pounds. When I got to the airport, I did a curbside check in, and the attendant picked up the luggage, and said it is under. I asked him if he could weigh it, to check what the scale read, but he did not have a scale.

So the day before I was returning, I threw stuff in it, weighed it, and it weighed 46.9 pounds. We then drove it to the airport, and asked them to weigh it. It weighed 47 pounds!! Only 1/10 of a pound more than what the scale weighed. So I was confident that I would not be overweight.

So before loading the luggage up in the van, I checked, and it was at 49.6 pounds. I then added on this strap item with multiple colors so I can easily see my luggage. And planned to take it off it caused it to be overweight, did not want to weigh it again. It is quite heavy holding up almost fifty pounds to weigh it. When I got to the airport, they weighed my luggage, and it was exactly fifty pounds!!! I highly recommend this scale!!

Nice to see a luggage scale that's smaller than usual. They're sometimes large and unwieldy and a bugger to pack.

Here's what I dislike (about ALL luggage scales!):
Balancing a heavy suitcase to get the readings accurate is hard on one's back and musculature and something guaranteed to give job security to Masseuses, Osteopaths and their ilk!

Many's the time I've seen just how close to 50 lbs. I can go without incurring Excess Baggage Fees and the subsequent
pitiless attitude of airline personnel, some of whom can nickel-and-dime you if you're even 2 Ounces over the limit. It happened to me...

It's SO useful, my brother borrowed it and it was small enough that he forgot to remove it and it stayed attached and travelled on its merry way with his bag! So now it's his.
I'll be buying another one.

Thanks for taking time to read this review. Hope you found it helpful.

Nice simple scale. Perfect for carrying with you when you travel. Works as advertised and accurate enough for luggage. I measured items up to 38lbs and it seems fairly accurate (within specified accuracy). I like the fact that it holds the reading

It can measure ambient temperature. I don't understand why. From a usability point of view, now I have to press the Unit button multiple times to go past C and F units to go from kg to lb units. It also interferes with unit conversion and the hold function. If you are in lbs and want to see in kgs, you get to see the temperature first which clears the weight measurement. Basically, anytime you see the temperature, the weight measurement is gone. This should stay until it is cleared manually using the Z/T button.

Another ergonomic issue. This unit is fine for luggage you can easily lift with one hand. For heavier ones, you may need both hands (palms up) to keep to lift the luggage and keep it away from your bod. But the handle is small can curved that it digs into the palm of my hands. I think keeping a flat contour on the bottom could have been a better design. Trying to lift palms down with fingers is easier but hard to keep the luggage away from your body and I can only get 3 fingers on each hand underneath.

Wish it used a regular AA or AAA battery. Also, I see from other reviewers that the battery does not last long. If that is the case, then the review goes to one star.

Worked great and was right on the nose compared to the airline scales

Update Jan 2018 Loved this product at first but after only a couple of uses it stopped powering on. Changed batteries and still nothing. Very disappointed that this product didn't last longer

Update 05/2018 Was very pleased with the customer service response, they replaced the original unit quickly and it works fine. Actually purchased another.

Description

We use this in every trip to avoid paying for extra weight as we travel internationally quite often. I have tested in several ways and also always note the weigh number in the airport. Afer several trips, I can say that the accuracy of it is right within 2 lbs. I have it for almost two years and still using the same batteries.

Considering the price I wondered if this would work--but it does work simply and correctly, and the airline weights for my luggage were within 1 lb of what this little scale said. You turn it on by pressing a button, let the strap hand for a second or two for it to calibrate, then wrap the strap around the suitcase handle and lift the suitcase. Hold it steady for a few seconds until the reading stops changing, and read how much your suitcase weighs. I really can't think of anything that would improve this product. On my most recent trip, on of our suitcases was going to be about a pound too heavy, so this little scale has already paid for itself by letting me know in time to move a few items from a heavy bag to one that wasn't quite so full.

Researched a few options and am really satisfied with the purchase.

The option to weigh in metric or standard is great for ensuring that I am within the standards for any carrier or location.

The option for temperature was a nice surprise as it was helpful in the room I was staying in (found it to be much warmer than I felt).

The way that you attach the luggage is easy to use and allows for flexibility. Other models with a metal hook can get awkward on some suitcases.

Folds up for easy storage, lightweight to keep weight down while travelling.

I purchased this for a cheaper price and I am much more satisfied with this digital version than the analog version from a different make that I purchased at a brick and mortar discount store a couple years ago.

I would say overall the value for the price is over 100%!

I used my Bowflex SelectTech 552 weight set to try this scale out. I tested at 5lb, 15lb, and 52.5lb, doing 3 measurements at each weight.

5 lb read at anywhere 4.3 through 5.3
15lb read at 15.0 all three times
52.5lb read at 51.7 through 52.0

(Note that those weights are not calibrated and thus this review isn't about the accuracy of this scale, but rather how precise it is. E.g. I can't guarantee that the 52.5lb weight is exactly 52.5lb, but the scale should give me the same number every time I measure that weight).

Overall, this scale was accurate to within a pound for every weight tested, so I'd say it's a good tool for the weight-constrained traveler (especially someone like me, who is flying on some airlines which impose a 15lb limit on carryon baggage)

This is a must for anyone who flies today and does not want to worry about getting to the airport only to find out their luggage is overweight. I take this with us everywhere we travel and always weigh our luggage before leaving for the airport so we have so surprises. It is lightweight and easy to put in our carry-on luggage. I also have found it very accurate (probably within a few ounces of the weight the airline has on their scales. I highly recommend this product. I hope this review is helpful.
