Green Toys Train - Blue

This train set seems very sturdy and well put-together, and was easy to remove from packaging and wash.
The wheels seem to be rolling really well on both carpet and tile. The pieces were easy for my child to figure out how to put together and take apart, and it's a huge bonus that the caboose has connectors on both ends, so it can be in the middle of the train, as well as at the end of the train. The lid for the caboose removes easily, since it just sits on top, but stays on better than expected.

The little engineer bears, which are hollow and open on the bottom, are nevertheless quite sturdy. They fit inside the engine, the flatbed, and the caboose. Also, Fisher Price Little People figures fit into the center of the caboose, with the lid on. (Height comparison: the bears come up to the jawline of our Little People figures.) This is an excellent thing, as it means the toy can be played with in more ways.

All in all, this is a really fun train set, so far.

I would have given it 5 stars except for the one negative: the cars come uncoupled very easily from the back of the engine. (The coupling peg needs just a little more height to fix the problem.) This happens even more when someone pushes on the back of the engine, or rolls the train on a carpeted surface. I'm waiting with dread for the moment it starts to really frustrate my child.
If they fix the issue with the engine's coupler, I would be interested in buying a second train (different color), to add more cars and bears into the mix.

Edit 9/14: I contacted Green Toys corporate to let them know about the coupler issue, and they were very cordial, and said they will be modifying the post to be taller.

My 3 year old is obsessed with trains and when I saw this giant one I knew he'd love it! Being able to fit lots of his toys inside for a train ride? Heck yes.
Sure enough on Christmas morning it was his favorite toy! He plays with it a lot. I love the simple, bright colors and how sturdy it is! This thing is not going to break!

I have purchased at least a dozen different Green Toys now (tea sets, trucks, boats, cupcakes, cars, clay play set, wagon, etc) and every single one has been well made, high quality, and my daughter loves playing with them. These are toys that hold up to the destructive nature of toddlers and I don’t have to worry that my daughter is getting a mouthful of contaminated plastic or lead paint if she decides to chew on part of the toy (the tea set cutlery). Even the packaging is exceptional, no piles of plastic wrap to throw away, just the most minimal amount of cardboard necessary to go into recycling. Any parent or grandparent can feel confident in purchasing a Green Toy.

I really like the green toys, and this train set certainly was beyond my expectations. This set is so fun for kids who like to drive trains or cars around and hook up trailers to them to haul around their other toys. My boys are 4 and 2 and the only toys they play with are cars or trains or anything with wheels it seems, they both really like this set and the multifunctional uses they can use it for. As far as quality and function go, this is a durable well made toy that I can see lasting until I have grandkids. You can't make statements like that very often anymore so if you are looking for a good toy that you might actually keep in a storage box long past when your kids have outgrown it this is a great one. Not to mention it is so fun for kids to play with, some toys just entertain for a minute and get broken or don't fulfill much or a purpose so don't get much use, that is not the case with this toy. You will get a lot of bang for your buck with this toy. I was also very surprised about how large this toy is, it is much larger then I expected. I assumed with the very affordable price that it would be a small train set but it is very good sized!

This is such a well made, sturdy toy train. It's actually made from recycled plastic. There is no metal or small pieces. My toddler loves putting the train cars together and then putting his Sesame Street characters in to push around the house on a ride. Keeps him entertained for hours. Oh and bonus: it's also dishwasher safe!

We got this for our sons 2nd birthday. We have other Green Toys items so felt confident in the build quality. This train is a solid plastic material and I do not see it breaking, even with the abuse of a young boy. It is also a good size for a child that age to fit his hands as he pushed the cars. My biggest complaint is the connection point. It has a stud and ring setup and the stud is pretty much flush when together. This means it comes apart fairly easily when being played with which leads to frustration. We tried to use a rubber-band to make it stay but it kept sliding forward and off. The roof comes off the caboose and the included bear conductors are a fun addition that my son enjoys placing in the different cars. Overall a very good toy and as my child ages the disconnecting may become less of a problem.

This is an awesome toy. No buttons means hours of imaginative play time! It's the perfect size for a toddler. It's the perfect toy for a child who loves trains, but isn't old enough to put a track together, or would be frustrated by a track. Very sturdy. Very well made.

Bought this as a gift for my 2-year old son who loves trains. This is now his favorite. You’ll never go wrong with Green Toys! We own several and this is the latest. Aside from the cool design, this train is wonderfully made as expected. Safe and clean plastic, no sharp edges or protruding parts that can harm he little ones.

I bought this to go in my Operation Christmas Child Shoebox (a program for needy children in other countries). It is well made and very adorable. It does fit in the shoebox but leaves little room for any other items. I am sure I can get a washcloth, bar of soap, toothbrush and a box of crayons in but not much else. I will look for a bigger shoebox so the train and more items (like a coloring book and a ball) can fit. Just wanted to let other OCC folks know its adorable but needs a bigger box.

This is an adorable train set. But it has one major flaw. The cars come apart extremely easily. My son can't push it down the carpet without it coming completely apart. He even has this problem on bare floors. Depends on his weight distribution. After a year of dealing with a very frustrated child I finally had the idea to just tape the cars together. I wish I had done that sooner because it would has saved us a lot of heart ache. I read in another review that Green Toys is fixing this problem. If I were you I would wait till they actually come out with the better version. But definitely then get this train. It will give years of fun play!
