This is the travel/hiking belt I've been looking for. I like the 1 1/2" width, which works well with jeans, travel pants or hiking pants and is lightweight to boot.. The hidden compartment is thus also wider than other security belts and easily fits simple folded currency or whatever...and easy to get them out. Goes through airport scanners because of lack of metal, but the webbing and zipper feel sturdy and well made. A great find!
Got this about 2 months ago. Unfortunately, the tip has already started to split and fray making it difficult to thread through belt loops and the buckle. Not impressed with that design. Also airport security made me remove it even though it's not metal .
UPDATE: Within 24 hrs of the posting of my review the company contacted me to offer a replacement. So definitely FIVE STARS for their customer service. The replacement belt has worked well. I use it to carry "mini survival kit" items as well as cash. I'm pleased with it.
So far so good. Been wearing it for a week and it's not had any issues. Only thing I don't like is the zipper pull is metal, not sure if it'll pass through the airport magtrom's or not. I was worried I'd feel it too but it's not noticeable against my waist between the belt and my pants.
Update: Yes the belt will pass through the magtromitor, I tested it at three airports here in the US. However it will not pass though the body scanner. The buckle and zipper show up on the scanner as will the magnetic strips contained in any of the US bills you have concealed inside it.
Update 2: Had an issue after a few months where the buckle broke, ordered a second unit and had the same issue. My guess was something was out of spec. I contacted Zero Grids CS department, they responded very quickly and were awesome at getting me two replacements and included a hand written note and small gift. Could not have asked for better customer service, I would not hesitate to purchase from Zero Grid again.
It should serve the purpose. I had been using an Eagle Creek version for a number of years when traveling. As of late the buckle on the Eagle Creek kept popping open. There is no way that could happen with this belt. Its also 1/4 inch wider than the Eagle Creek, so that should make it easier to stash money etc. The zippered compartment is also several inches longer.
At the price of this belt, it should be offered is sizes so that one does not have to resort to trimming and sealing the cut with a flame.
I found a simple trick to buckling this zero grid belt buckle. The buckle will pop off one end, and you see 2 freaky parts. Don't panic, just see the 3rd diagram on the product page here. It shows the zipper right next to the logo of 6 shapes on a buckle part. You thread the buckle back in like that, zipper next to logo, and keep that part in a straight line with the plastic piece it attaches to; so if it clicks open, just press it back into a straight line. Put the other end of the belt into the top buckle part. Now put your thumb under the logo part, which is the side against your clothing, and make pincers of your hand, pressing that together with the top flap-like buckle part that you thread the other end into. Press at the very top of the flap, a bit hard, and it does work. Also lift that same top-of-the-flap part to open the buckle again. (You're welcome!)

I've been wearing it for the past few days, and am impressed with the ease of access to the money pouch. It fits in all of my women's jeans belt loops and is easily adjustable. I would wear this when I travel and cash on hand is necessary.
I had an issue with my belt. That issue was resolved by the company very quickly, which made me happy because I really love the belt. I would certainly do business with the company again.
As far as money belts go its really in a class of its own. The zipper area has enough room to fit 4 sets of bills end to end, folded in half. I found you can fit 60 bills in there with ease. I supposed you might be able to squeeze more in there but I would be concerned in ripping out stitching and wearing the zipper down prematurely. Anyways I personally fit 2 sets of bills (30 total bills) and a small survival kit in the belt. This far exceeded my last money belt. It was so narrow I could fit about 30 bills, but it was bulging and could fit nothing else.
This really is a great money belt
This is a money belt not a hold your pants up belt. Was able to put a $8,000.00 in the belt all $100 bills. I wore the belt through airport security and did not set off any metal detectors. This belt was used on a round trip international flight to South East Asia from the United States 15 months ago. While re entering the United States someone in security said belts must be removed. I place my belt in the tray when I retreved the tray at the other end of security the belt was gone. More than likely at was someone standing behind me took it. I did not stand and watch my tray go through security before I left it. My fault. No there was no money in it thank goodness. This is my second belt purchased. Was very pleased with it. I would recommend it to anyone. Would have given it 5 stars but only had it 3 weeks. I do not wear a belt with my clothes. Remember it's only for carrying money not your pants.
It took a little bit of time to figure it out. My belt arrived perfectly fine, but the buckle disengaged completely from the belt when I first attempted to use it. Unfortunately, I didn't really pay attention to how it was put together. Luckily there is a video (on this page) on how to use the buckle and after a few times watching it, I was able to put it back together. It's a little stiff when you first started using it and seriously it feels like it's going to break when you close the buckle which scared me the first time I actually closed the buckle. However it didn't break and I'm now comfortable using it. Definitely be my go to belt when traveling or even for my day-off/casual wear.
I purchased this belt along with another brand before leaving for 7 months of travel in South America. The belt was heavier duty and wider than the competitor's, and I liked that bills could be folded in half rather than in thirds. I did not have issues with the buckle as some here have. Unfortunately mine did begin to fray exactly like "Tim M." posted. I melted it back together and it continues to work. Warranty was a non starter since I was out of the country, but I looked on Amazon to purchase another and unfortunately they are only available now in brown... :( Anyway, I found the belt to be very good for what I needed and better than expected.
