Bluetooth Smart Body Fat Scale by Weight Gurus, Secure Connected Solution for Your Data, Including BMI, Body Fat, Muscle Mass, Water Weight, and Bone Mass, Large Backlit Display

Bought this in June. States it has a 400lb rating.

Last weighed I was 338. Stepped on it today, and the entire thing shattered. Didn't jump on it. Just stepped on it barefoot. Glass everywhere.

Don't get me wrong, thoroughly enjoyed the scale. It was accurate, and easy to use. Hopefully they can replace it for me.

Edit.

Called customer service. Not only where they extremely helpful, they are replacing the scale.

That is five star service if you ask me.

I got it yesterday, and it works great for me. But I knocked off a star because I was very disappointed to find out that this scale CANNOT be used as "just" a scale by my friends and family who aren't interested in downloading the app and creating a profile and all that stuff. Well, they can, but not if they are within 10 lbs of my weight, because then the scale will auto-detect their weight as being my weight and store it in my profile. I spoke with customer service and they confirmed that this is the case.

They should consider making a scale with a manual mode option, where the scale won't record your weight in your smartphone UNLESS you select a user. Either that, or add a "guest user" option to the list of users, so that people without a profile can select it and weigh themselves without their weight ending up in other users' profiles.

It's misleading for the description to advertise "WEIGH WITHOUT A SMARTPHONE" without clarifying that it will cause problems when the scale is used by some people with a smartphone and some without. It's just lucky that we didn't get rid of our old scale before getting this one. Now we need to have two scales in the house: one for me, one for everyone else.

**UPDATE**
It’s been about a year since I purchased this scale and I still LOVE it. One of the greatest things about it is the bodyfat measurement. You know when you’re busting your behind to lose weight and you plateau? This scale helps keep you motivated because even when your weight is stuck on the same number you can see your bodyfat % creep down. It really does help keep you motivated.

The company has also been releasing updates on a regular basis and the app has been totally improved. I really am glad I bought this scale!

Original review below:

I just received this about an hour ago but I can already say I'm very, very happy with it.

First of all, the packaging was reminiscent of opening an Apple product (photo attached). They took great care in the presentation. The care they take extends to the product itself as well as the support they provide. Upon setting up you're given the option to register for your 5 year warranty and it's made insanely easy by giving you the option to simply sign in with Amazon. You just sign in and it's registered. I was impressed.

Setup was also very easy, you just go to the website displayed (multiple times) in the packaging and follow a few quick, easy steps. After setup, you're given the phone number and extension of someone you can call if you need assistance.

The setup page included videos and a FAQ's section which included more helpful videos.

Another important detail is that it seems they work hard to keep their app up-to-date. This is very important, especially if you're using an iPhone, because of frequent software updates. When I was comparing scales before I purchased this one I downloaded the apps first to see how well maintained they were and this one was by far the winner.

There were two things that weren't immediately clear but I was able to figure out fairly easy:

1.) To get your BMI etc., you have to stand on the scale longer. After your weight shows up, keep standing until you see some little circles jumping around. After that you'll see your additional readings.

2.) Syncing with Apple Health is easy when you know where to look. Open the Weight Guru's app and click on 'Integrations' in the sidebar. This will give you the option to share with Apple Health.

Overall, I'm really impressed with this product. You can tell as soon as you open it that the company is focused on providing a great product with great support. I will add an update here if I have any problems.

I've had this scale for 6 months now. I purchased this for the fact that it would upload and track my progress in an app and also share this info with my Fitbit app. This was all very easy to set up and has worked seemlessly with no problems. Me being me and I would feel like any Fitbit user could relate I like all the info and I like to have it tracked with little effort on my part. It helps me stay motivated and keeps me in check. I have also learned from this process and from this scale a lot more about my body and the affects from weightlifting, cardio and food have on my overall weight. I have found this knowledge very useful and I feel it will help me maintain my weight after I have lost the rest of the weight I need to lose. I would not have been able to have learn this had it not been nicely tracked within the app. So for this part, the main reason for the purchase, this is a great scale!

As for the scale itself I would bump that down to a 3. The scale is no better than any other scale I have owned. I feel as far as body fat, muscle mass, and water weight this scale is merely guessing. I'm sure it's relatively close but as I am hitting a plateau in my overall weight loss I am beginning to notice how much it's just guessing. For the past month or so I have lost very little weight however I have lost several inches and can clearly see more definition in my muscles which is telling me that I am not losing weight because I am gaining muscle mass and losing fat. The scale has continually told me the same muscle mass and fat percentage during this time so that has caused me to doubt is ability to calculate but the real kicker for me was this weekend. I have attached a picture to illustrate. You can see on Saturday I weighed 163.2 which has been pretty consistent with my weights lately. On Sunday we had a big BBQ and I ate more than I should have. I gained weight which is expected as I am retaining more water and waste. Our bodies do not and can not turn food into fat instantly. It takes a day or so to process and if the calories are burned off with increased exercise than it doesn't have a chance or need to store it as fat. As you can see in the picture though I gained 1% body fat and lost water weight and muscle mass. This seemed odd to me the fat percentage and muscle mass should have stayed the same and water weight should have gone up. Then today after eating my normal healthy diet have magically lost that 1% body fat and gained my muscle mass back. Yea sorry but no....I never gained that fat or lost that muscle I was only retaining excess water and waste from the food I had eaten. So all and all I have little faith in its ability to calculate anything more than your overall weight but I will give it an A for effort and say that I truly don't believe that any scale can accurately calculate this.

This scale is awesome in so many ways. It saves your weigh-ins so if you don't have your phone you can "catch up" later.

We have two, though normally you can have more than one person use it. My son wanted one of his own, so we got it.

It's sleek, easy to use, you can "cheat" and not record your weight by stepping on and stepping off quickly.

The app is pretty good:
It tracks your weight history, lets you set goals and tells you how you're doing
It tracks BMI, Body Fat, Water, and a handful of other stuff
The ONLY downside to the app is that you can't see graphs for every detail (e.g. BMI progress) ... you have to swipe ... but you CAN see a graph for your weight.

The app has to be open once you've recorded your weight ... it beeps ... and you have about a minute to remember to open the app on your phone ... but it's not a big deal because if you miss, then the next time you record it says "you had two measurements since your last recording" ... the scale saves past recordings.

This is a good one. Worth the money, had it for years, it's pretty, solid, works with your phone, generally just a good gadget.

I bought this scale to replace my Aria scale that no longer works. The scale arrived the same day I ordered it. Batteries are included. It was very easy to set up. This is a bluetooth scale. It does not connect to a wifi network. After downloading the WeightGurus app on my phone and registering as a user, it walked me through setup. It was super easy! You can add multiple users to the scale. Multiple people can download the app on their phone and sync as a user to the scale. You put your height, gender, and age in the app. This scale has a large glass face. My boyfriend with size 13 feet fits entirely on the scale without issue. I am also able to weigh my small dogs with accurate readings.

Compared to the Aria scale, this app will only show your weights. With the fitbit app, anyone with the scale synced to their phone could see all of the weigh ins and what person weighed in. Weight is more private with this app :)

This scale is AMAZING! My spouse and I have embarked on a wellness program, and this scale is a critical tool! It tracks our weight, our body fat, our hydration level, bone density and BMI. The scale syncs with a very user-friendly app and provides a plethora of information! After 5 months of daily use, our scale started acting up. I contacted customer service at Greater Goods with my issue. To my delight, Katy (the customer service rep that answered my call) was able to determine that, in fact, my scale had an issue. With no questions or grief, she immediately offered to replace my scale with no questions asked.....and I didn't have to hassle with sending back the original scale! Not only am I totally sold on the Weight Guru scale, but am so very pleased with the exceptional customer service offered by Greater Goods. Another positive point...they donate a portion of their sales to a non-profit organization!!!

This replaced an early Fitbit Aria. After about a year (just after warranty ran out, the Aria started acting up-two different weight within minutes. The weight Guru scale that replaced it has a much longer warranty-leading me to believe they believe in their product's quality and provides much more data than my early Aria. Further, the PRESIDENT of the Company called out of the blue asking if I was completely satisfied with the new scale. Also since the price of my new scale is about a third of the cost of a new Aria with 3 times the warranty how could I not be very enthused??!!

Update after App issues, Aug 2018:

Contacted the company and they have offered a refund for my malfunctioning scale that occurred after the update. Costumer service has tried their best to ensure that they can fix the issue after the update. I would advise anyone having issues to do the same. Overall a great scale but hopefully the bugs will be sorted out in the near future so I can continue to use this brand.

The packaging on this scale is the best packaging I’ve seen. It comes perfectly and securely wrapped to ensure that it will arrive safely. It came with directions and a card that gave the costumer service page and website. The packaging had an expensive feel and very good quality.

The scale is very beautiful, reflective glass black. It is heavy and accurate. I compared with another digital scale and with all members of my family it was accurate. The buttons on the glass are very responsive to the lightest touch. Easy to clean and sleek. The numbers and symbols on the scale are large and bright against a blue backdrop. The quality is comparable to another scale I’ve seen for over 100 dollars with the same capabilities and more. The features of the scale are very easy to use.

The app was easy to download and register. The app worked seamlsss on my iPhone, synced perfectly to Bluetooth and my other fitness apps. Upon opening within 10 minutes I was able to sync 4 users, with up to 8 available slots. It connected to Bluetooth immediately with no issues. The app shows clear graphs and displays information clearly.
I Would recommend this to anyone that is into fitness and thinking about a smart scale.

The scale is sleek, and looks very nice. I knew from reading the reviews that there were specific steps to go through to set up the scale. We walked through the process and had no problems getting it set up. The scale seems accurate and was tested against an Omron device. The only reason I knocked off a star is because the app must be opened before the scale will register all of the findings. This means taking your phone to the bathroom with you in order to step on the scale. I still love the scale and still recommend it, but just know you will need to add the app icon to your home page for quick access before jumping on. The scale does sync seamlessly with multiple apps including My Fitness Pal and Fit Bit which are the two I use regularly.
