Melissa & Doug Counting Shape Stacker - Wooden Educational Toy With 55 Shapes and 10 Number Tiles

I agree with the other reviewers who said it would have made more sense for the shapes to coordinate with the numbers where possible - 3 for triangle, 5 for pentagon, etc. But I suppose since you can't do 2, aaaand 7,9,10 aren't common shapes, I'd rather have common shapes and an opportunity for more challenges, such as find all the 5s, find all the ones with 4 sides, find all the greens, etc.
The shapes on the Ten peg were off - I got 3 pentagons (matching the label) and 7 hexagons in the same color. I simply called the company (whose number is on the bottom of the toy) and they mailed me replacements. Love that!
All in all, my kids got some number/color practice with it and the shapes have come in handy for our math lessons, since it's not just anywhere you can usually find a rhombus or a trapezoid lying around. The colors are vibrant and the assembly is sturdy.

I purchased this set for one of my 4 year old twin grandsons. He absolutely loves them, and sometimes even shares with his brother. The set is very well made, sanded very smoothly, and well painted. It is an excellent, fun way to teach colors, numbers, and shapes. The one thing that could make this set better is to have some kind of carrying/storage case. I will be looking for some type of Rubbermaid container to store it in. Great Purchase. Highly recommend.

Quality Melissa and Doug toy, but could use some improvement. Spacing between the shapes could be a little larger. Angular shapes sometimes need to be lined up just right to get the ones next to it to slide down. Also, why not 5 pentagons, 6 hexagons, and 8 octagons. Seems like a missed opportunity there. This is a fun toy for learning shapes, counting and patterns.

My son played with this at his cousins house so I had to get one.
Pro:
He’s isnt 3 yet and knows his shapes and WHY his shape are called what they are. He also know his numbers and in what order they go. I really can’t say enough about the educational bennifits of this toy.
Con:
He dumps the thing and pieces go EVERYWHERE. One is still missing.

Great educational toy that doesn't seem to get old with my 2-yr old. With colors, shapes, counting, numbers, and sorting options this toy provides many different challenges for young ones. The durability of the paint is impressive. My daughter was missing one shape for about 2 weeks. I found it last evening out in her sand box where it had been exposed to sun and rain. The piece did not get damaged at all. Testament to their quality. My daughter does like to still put things in her mouth and the fun colorful small pieces on this toy are no exception yet the toy has stood up to her abuse. Highly recommend this product.

This sturdy wooden stacker is jam-packed with exciting details that appeal to a child's natural curiosity about colors, shapes, and numbers! Encourage early math skills with the 55 shape pieces and 10 number tiles ("One rectangle plus one rectangle makes two rectangles. If we add one more, how many rectangles do we have in all?"), or help develop word recognition by identifying the shape names printed on the board and the numbers spelled out on the back of the tiles. This classic toy for ages 2+ is an educational powerhouse!

Love this learning toy so much! We are teaching a second language and I love how universal it is, to still allow us to play in the second language as well!

The quality is great also as far as the colors and wood finish! My only con, is that the #10 stacking blocks are not the pentagon shape the picture painted underneath depicts. It's a hexagon instead. Okay for my 2 year old, but could be confusing.

my 1.5 year old loves this. he likes putting the shapes on the rods and then sorting them. a good way to strengthen their hand coordination and start introducing shapes, colors, and numbers.

Fantastic product. Did not disappoint. There were several reviews that said the 10s category were labelled incorrectly and labeled as Pentagon when it should have been a hexagon. Almost made me not buy it. THEY ARE ALL LABELLED CORRECTLY!

Love this toy! Taught my toddler the concept of numbers almost immediately and she has starting to remember what each number looks like as well. Even when we aren't "counting" the pieces, she loves to play with this and just take all the shapes off and put them back on. She was already passed the age of sorting and had most of the names of these shapes figured out before I bought this, but it would have been great when she was a bit younger too. She is just over two.

Great educational toy. It expresses the numbers several ways: the stackable shapes, the numeral, the words, and the pictures! My 3-year-old loves it!
